The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
The Corporate Director of Global Reliability Programs is responsible for developing, standardizing, and deploying reliability strategies across all manufacturing sites worldwide. This role ensures consistent implementation of best practices in asset integrity, preventive and predictive maintenance, and reliability-centered methodologies to maximize equipment uptime, reduce costs, and enhance safety. The position partners with regional and plant engineering and maintenance leaders, operations, and corporate leadership to drive a culture of reliability excellence and continuous improvement.

Global Reliability Strategy & Governance
- Define and implement a global reliability framework, including standards, policies, and procedures for all sites.
- Establish corporate guidelines for preventive maintenance, predictive technologies, and asset management.
- Develop and maintain global reliability KPIs and reporting systems to monitor performance across regions.
- Ensure alignment of reliability programs with corporate objectives for safety, sustainability, and operational excellence.
- Responsible for establishing the current reliability landscape across all 3M sites including baseline maturity assessments, capability mapping, system usage, and performance gaps.
- Build a global reliability maturity model with audit cycles to gauge performance.
- Establish monthly global performance reviews, quarterly regional deep dives, and annual strategic refreshments.
- Set the process for maintenance scope challenge, readiness verification, and post-event learning as required.
Program Deployment & Continuous Improvement
- Lead global rollout of reliability initiatives, including training, tools, and technology platforms.
- Drive adoption of reliability-centered maintenance (RCM), root cause analysis (RCA), and failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA) across all sites.
- Implement advanced predictive maintenance technologies (e.g., vibration analysis, thermography, sensors) to improve asset health monitoring.
- Benchmark best practices internally and externally to continuously improve reliability performance.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Serve as the corporate subject matter expert for reliability engineering and maintenance optimization.
- Partner with site engineering and maintenance leaders to ensure consistent execution of reliability programs.
- Provide coaching and development for regional reliability leaders and site teams.
- Collaborate with EHS, Operations, and Supply Chain to integrate reliability into broader business strategies.
Capital & Asset Lifecycle Management
- Influence capital investment decisions to ensure reliability considerations are embedded in equipment design and selection.
- Develop global standards for equipment lifecycle management, including renewal planning and obsolescence strategies.
Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field (completed and verified prior to start)
- Fifteen (15) years of experience in engineering, maintenance, and reliability leadership roles, including global or multi‑site responsibility in a private, public, government or military environment
- Five (5) years of experience in reliability engineering principles, predictive maintenance technologies, and asset management systems.
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
- Strong knowledge of regulatory compliance, EHS standards, and manufacturing best practices.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and change management skills.
- Advance degree is a plus.
