Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

Set and communicate the regional editorial vision for North America Legislation, ensuring alignment with GEO and the Global Head of Legislation’s strategic agenda

Lead strategic planning for statutory and regulatory content, anticipating market trends and shaping future coverage and capabilities

Represent GEO Legislation in North America with senior commercial stakeholders and participate in customer-facing engagements to inform strategy and strengthen market relevance

Champion an online-first, AI-enabled operating model that positions the region at the forefront of editorial excellence

Content Strategy and Quality

Provide strategic oversight of content development to ensure comprehensive, authoritative, and trusted coverage across all jurisdictions in North America and Canada

Define and maintain high-level quality, coverage, and performance expectations, ensuring the region meets enterprise standards and supports product growth

Strengthen visibility of regional performance against key editorial metrics, using insights to guide long-term improvements

Operational Excellence and Innovation

Drive the adoption of next-generation AI-driven editorial workflows, accelerating efficiency and enabling consistent, scalable processes across regions

Lead strategic initiatives to modernize content operations, prioritizing automation, AI-driven enhancements, and harmonization across the portfolio

Cultivate a culture of continuous improvement, ensuring teams proactively identify opportunities to enhance quality and turnaround

Collaborate internationally across Legislation and GEO content verticals to foster the exchange of best practices, driving strategic alignment and advancing global excellence

People Leadership and Talent Development

Provide strategic leadership to managers and senior contributors, ensuring organizational clarity, capability development, and strong leadership pipelines

Build an inclusive, high-performing culture that promotes accountability, collaboration, and innovation

Strengthen succession planning and career pathways to ensure the region maintains deep subject-matter and leadership expertise

Inspire and motivate your team to pursue excellence, encouraging individuals to take initiative and continuously seek opportunities for personal and collective improvement

Enterprise Partnership and Influence

Guide editorial perspectives within enterprise-wide programs, ensuring legislation strategy is embedded in transformation and growth initiatives

Collaborate closely with Product, Technology, and Commercial teams to align content strategy with customer outcomes, market expectations, and product innovation

Influence global decision-making by bringing forward regional insights, operational opportunities, and future market needs

AI Leadership

Act as a strategic champion for AI-first editorial transformation, promoting advanced generative and agentic capabilities across regional operations

Shape the long‑term roadmap for AI adoption in legislation workflows in partnership with Technology and Product leadership

Ensure content structures, metadata, and editorial outputs are designed to power emerging AI‑driven experiences, including Lexis+AI and future platforms

Monitor AI adoption metrics, identify and implement strategies to improve individual use of AI in day‑to‑day work, and report progress against GEO’s vision on AI‑optimized workflows

Required Qualifications

Law degree (JD or equivalent) essential; legal practice experience highly desirable

Proven leadership in legal publishing or editorial operations, with strong knowledge of North American and Canadian legal systems

Demonstrated ability to manage multi‑region teams and complex editorial workflows

AI Fluency: Advanced understanding of AI technologies, LLMs, and agentic content platforms; proven experience embedding AI into editorial processes

Strong track record in people management and talent development

Skills and Competencies

Deep understanding of statutory and regulatory frameworks across North America and Canada

Strategic thinker able to translate vision into long‑term plans and measurable outcomes

Strong enterprise mindset with the ability to influence senior stakeholders across product, technology, and commercial functions

Excellence in communication, change leadership, and cross‑regional collaboration

High adaptability in a fast‑moving, matrixed environment and commitment to diversity and inclusion

Ability to inspire and motivate teams around a shared vision and a passion for delighting our customers

Working Conditions

Full‑time position; home‑based

Must be able to operate effectively across US and Canadian time zones and to liaise with UK/SA/APAC colleagues

Travel, up to 10% of working time, may be required for team engagement and stakeholder meetings

By ensuring accuracy and accessibility of statutory and regulatory information, the Head of North America Legislation enables legal professionals, businesses, and governments to make informed decisions, thereby strengthening transparency, compliance, and justice systems. Head of Legislation directly supports LexisNexis’ mission to advance the rule of law worldwide, ensuring that legal information is available, reliable, and actionable for all stakeholders.

U.S. National Base Pay Range: $118,300 - $219,800. Geographic differentials may apply in some locations to better reflect local market rates.

Base Pay Range in Ontario: $143,700 - $193,700 (CAD).
