Department: Operations – Assisted Living
Location: Assisted Living Facility – Optalis Health & Rehabilitation
Reports To: Regional Director of Operations (RDO) / Vice President of Operations
FLSA Status: Salary Exempt
Position Summary:
The Executive Director of Assisted Living provides leadership, strategic direction, and day-to-day management of an assisted living community. This role ensures high-quality resident care, regulatory compliance, financial performance, and employee engagement. The Executive Director represents the facility in the community, fosters strong resident and family relationships, and drives census growth and resident satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Provide overall leadership and management of the Assisted Living community.
- Ensure compliance with state regulations, licensing requirements, and corporate policies.
- Oversee resident care services, ensuring safety, quality, and dignity.
- Manage facility budget, financial performance, and occupancy goals.
- Lead, mentor, and evaluate staff to ensure excellence in care and customer service.
- Partner with Admissions, Business Development, and Marketing to drive census growth.
- Oversee recruitment, onboarding, and retention of staff.
- Serve as primary contact for residents, families, and community partners.
- Develop and implement programs to enhance resident engagement and quality of life.
- Ensure survey readiness and timely corrective action for any citations.
- Collaborate with corporate leadership on strategic planning and operational improvement.

- Strong knowledge of assisted living operations, state regulations, and resident rights.
- Leadership and staff management skills across multi-disciplinary teams.
- Financial and business acumen, including budgeting and occupancy management.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to manage crisis situations and resolve conflicts effectively.
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, or related field.
- 5+ years of progressive leadership experience in senior living, assisted living, or long-term care.
- Knowledge of assisted living state regulations.
Preferred
- Licensed Nursing Home Administrator (LNHA) or Assisted Living Administrator license (where applicable).
- Master’s degree in Healthcare or Business Administration.
- Multi-site or large facility management experience.
