BBQ United is building the global platform for barbecue culture — combining membership, structured directories (restaurants, teams, events), live competitions, rankings, user-generated content, and commerce into a scalable consumer ecosystem.
This is not a marketing website. This is a content-heavy, subscription-driven B2C product designed for long-term scale.
We are seeking a Senior Product Manager / Founding Product Lead to take ownership of product clarity, prioritization, and execution — turning vision into measurable outcomes.
The Role
This is a founding-level product role.
You will:
- Own the product roadmap and sequencing
- Translate business objectives into structured execution plans
- Lead sprint planning and backlog prioritization
- Partner closely with engineering and UX/UI
- Drive conversion, retention, and engagement strategy
- Create product discipline and decision clarity
- Remove day-to-day product management burden from the founders
This is a hands-on role. You will write PRDs, define user flows, run sprints, manage tradeoffs, and ensure what we build directly supports growth and revenue.
What We’re Building
BBQ World Cup is developing a structured, subscription-powered ecosystem that includes:
- Membership tiers and paid access
- Structured entities (Restaurants, Teams, Events, Rankings, Sanctioning Bodies)
- SEO-indexed programmatic pages at scale
- User-generated content and moderation
- Subscription and entitlement enforcement
- A scalable infrastructure foundation
This role requires someone who understands both growth-stage product strategy and execution-level detail.
Core Responsibilities: Product Strategy
- Define and evolve the roadmap aligned with company goals
- Sequence MVP vs long-term platform architecture
- Identify high-leverage releases that drive measurable results
Execution & Delivery
- Write structured PRDs and acceptance criteria
- Run sprint planning and backlog grooming
- Unblock engineering and maintain shipping cadence
- Ensure UX and product logic remain cohesive
Conversion & Growth
- Own funnel instrumentation and analytics
- Improve paid membership conversion
- Define and monitor KPIs
- Structure scalable entity relationships
- Support SEO-driven product growth
- Align taxonomy and data governance
Required Experience
- 8+ years in product management
- Built or scaled B2C subscription products
- Experience with content-heavy or marketplace-style platforms
- Strong experimentation and conversion mindset
- Experience directly managing engineering execution
- Comfortable working with React-based frontends and API-driven backends
Engagement Structure
- Contract engagement to start
- Minimum commitment of 3–6 months
- Expected availability aligned with U.S. business hours
- Compensation: $25–$40 per hour (USD) based on experience
- Strong performance may evolve into a long-term or full-time leadership role
We are looking for someone who wants to help shape and build a scalable platform — not just manage tickets.
