Director of Data & Analytics

Location: Remote work, within USA. This position is not eligible to be performed in Hawaii.
Reports to: Chief Technology Officer

The Role:

We’re looking for a mission‑driven Director of Data & Analytics to lead the data organization, spanning data engineering, analytics, and data science. In this role, you’ll define and drive our data strategy to mature our data pipeline and orchestration, deepen analytical capabilities across business, product, and clinical domains, and shape how we responsibly apply AI and machine learning to improve member engagement and clinical outcomes.

You’ll partner cross‑functionally with product, engineering, clinical, business and operations teams to ensure that data serves as both a strategic asset and a catalyst for innovation - improving access, experience, and outcomes for members and providers alike.

What You’ll Do:

Data Strategy & Architecture

  • Define and drive the long‑term data engineering vision and roadmap, enabling a scalable, compliant, cloud‑native data platform that supports Modern Health’s operational and analytical needs.
  • Lead the design and evolution of Modern Health’s data pipelines for high‑quality, secure, and timely data sharing across internal and external stakeholders.
  • Advance the company’s data democratization efforts by enabling self‑service analytics and building a strong foundation of data governance and literacy.

Analytics & Insights

  • Oversee analytics initiatives that drive impact across business, product, and clinical areas - from operational reporting and performance dashboards to predictive and prescriptive analytics.
  • Partner closely with Product teams to surface insights that inform care model design, provider performance, member engagement, and program effectiveness.
  • Establish best practices for experiment design, cohort analysis, and measurement of interventions and feature impact.
  • Champion AI/ML initiatives that enhance personalization, care coordination, and automation - always with a focus on safety, transparency, and regulatory compliance.
  • Build scalable pipelines and frameworks for model development, validation, and monitoring.
  • Partner with Engineering and Product to translate models into production‑ready solutions that directly improve member and provider experiences.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead a multidisciplinary team of data engineers, analysts, and data scientists, fostering a culture of curiosity, excellence, and accountability.
  • Partner with functional leaders across Tech, Product, Clinical, Business and Operations to embed data‑driven thinking in decision‑making.
  • Mentor team members, developing both technical expertise and leadership capacity.
  • Champion a high‑performance environment and contribute to an inclusive work environment.

What You Will Bring:

  • 8+ years of experience in data‑related roles, with 3+ years leading data engineering, analytics, or data science teams.
  • Proven success building and executing a data strategy in a health tech or regulated environment.
  • Deep understanding of modern data architecture, ETL/ELT pipelines, and cloud‑based data ecosystems (e.g., Snowflake, BigQuery, Looker).
  • Hands‑on experience with AI/ML applications, including model development, deployment, and monitoring in production.
  • Familiarity with healthcare data standards (e.g., HL7, FHIR, claims, EMR/EHR data) and privacy requirements (e.g., HIPAA).
  • Strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to bridge technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • A collaborative mindset and genuine passion for improving healthcare through data and technology.

Compensation for the role will depend on a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies, and experience and may fall outside of the range shown. Ranges are not necessarily indicative of the associated starting pay range in other locations. Depending on the scope of the role, some ranges are indicative of On Target Earnings (OTE) and includes both base pay and commission at 100% achievement of established targets.
