Summary

The Director of Business Development and Physician Relations (business development and physician relations) develops, executes, and tracks a multifaceted business strategy for assigned locations and/or services at Jackson Health System. The position nurtures and grows targeted programs through direct interaction with physicians and referral sources, as well as cross‑departmental coordination among clinical, operational, capital, financial, and marketing leaders.

Responsibilities

  • Helps drive development of annual strategic business plans for assigned locations and/or services, including alignment with market data, institutional priorities, program capacity, and financial needs.
  • Nimbly leads real‑time amendments to these plans based upon changing organizational and market dynamics.
  • Creates and/or informs market analyses to measure service demand, identify program opportunities, and recommend expansion, consolidation, and partnership opportunities.
  • Manages real‑time tracking of business plans for assigned locations and/or services, and ensures appropriate monthly or quarterly reporting against targets for various audiences.
  • Reacts with urgency and accountability to maximize results.
  • Participates in creating and implementing key health system growth plans, including new programs or services and ongoing development and marketing plans.
  • Maintains industry awareness of relevant trends, developments, and innovations that may impact the health system’s market share, penetration, growth, and financial position.
  • Directs the physician development and liaison efforts for assigned locations and/or services, including recruitment of medical staff and nurturing of existing providers.
  • Understands and leverages the roles of organizations such as MSOs, ACOs, ALFs, EMS agencies, and nursing homes in reaching health system goals.
  • Collaborates with internal partners such as credentialing, information technology, marketing, and operations to ensure provider needs are addressed timely and appropriately.
  • Creates and maintains Jackson’s brand visibility in targeted locations — such as physician offices and clinics — by providing and refreshing health system collateral and other materials.
  • Represents the health system, internally and externally, as a compassionate, accountable, respectful, and expert professional who shapes perceptions among providers, referral sources, and the community.
  • Establishes self as a trusted, familiar, and welcome embodiment of the health system’s brand, mission, and values. Partners with marketing, communication, and outreach teams to maximize impact and reach or exceed business goals for assigned locations and/or services.
  • This includes making recommendations for strategic, tactical, and financial priorities.
  • Serves as a key and confidential advisor to senior executive(s) in assigned locations and/or services, including the assigned supervision and direction of assigned staff.
  • In this role, may be required to hire, evaluate, and counsel employees or support such actions with other leaders.
  • May also be assigned other appropriate duties necessary for the good and orderly operations of the assigned locations and/or services.
  • Remains familiar and strictly compliant with all relevant laws, regulations, and policies.

  • Performs all other related job duties as assigned.

Experience

  • Generally requires 5 to 10 years of related experience.
  • Management experience is preferred.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field is required.
  • Master’s degree is strongly preferred.

Credentials

Valid license or certification is required as needed, based on the job or specialty.
