Primary Function The Director of Operations will oversee several facets of the operation of Innovation Franklinton (Idea Foundry). This position is the point‑person for all operating activities for the facility. The Director of Operations reports to the VP of Operations. The Director of Operations will manage the office leases and co‑working space and serve as the main point of contact for those individuals and companies. Additionally, the Director of Operations will manage the makerspace and serve as the main point of contact for the members.
The Director of Operations will be responsible for creating and managing activities, live events, and educational opportunities that will drive earned and contributed revenues.
Duties and Responsibilities
First 3 Months:
Learn the current operating model of the organization
Develop staffing plan
Develop new operating model for the makerspace
Develop new operating model for coworking space
Identify capital improvements
Develop plan to relaunch the co‑working and office space
Develop plan to relaunch the makerspace and membership structure
Develop plan for maintenance and cleaning
Develop and manage operating budget with CAPA finance team
Develop safety and security standards for the building and various spaces.
First 6 months:
Staff the organization
Implement plans listed above
Attract new tenants in the office and co‑working space
Build programming in the 2nd floor event space
Build educational activities
First Year:
Successful relaunch of space
Growing revenue lines
Creating a sustainable business model that shows growth potential
Creating an operating model that meets CAPA’s safety and security standards while attracting artists, makers, and entrepreneurs

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to solve problems, including diplomatic resolution of situations that sometimes arise from public users of the theatre.
Ability to work well with the public and theatre users.
Ability to perform moderate lifting, standing, bending, and kneeling.
Ability to climb stairs repeatedly throughout course of performance and/or workday, as necessary.
Basic computer skills for email communication, record keeping, and administrative tasks.
Working knowledge of HVAC systems and general building maintenance.
Credentials and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or arts administration preferred
Typically, 3-5 years of experience with facility operations, ideally within the non‑profit arts industry, are needed to have sufficient experience and judgement to perform this role of this size and complexity.
Experience working with the public.
Prior experience managing a staff of 4+.
The base pay for this role is $60,000 - $65,000.
Special Requirements
Successful background check.
The majority of CAPA’s public events take place at night and on weekends. This position requires occasional presence on‑site during nights and weekends and is on‑call 24/7 to respond to emergencies.
