About Pike Place Market Foundation For more than forty years, the Pike Place Market Foundation has been at the heart of Seattle's most iconic neighborhood, nurturing a vibrant community of residents, farmers, artists, and small business owners. Through direct services, and providing funding for affordable housing, childcare, healthcare, and support for local businesses, the Foundation has sustained the Market's unique spirit and promoted its role as a thriving public asset. The Market Foundation has 15 staff, 26 Board members, and an anticipated operating budget for FY 26/27 of $5.1M.
About the Role We’re searching for an inspiring and collaborative Executive Director to lead our dedicated team and guide the Foundation’s strategic vision. The next Executive Director will build on a legacy of success by strengthening community partnerships, championing social justice, and ensuring Pike Place Market remains a model of compassionate urban development.
Key Responsibilities
Nurture a culture of belonging for staff and volunteers, where every voice is valued
Lead strategic planning, operations, and financial management with a focus on sustainability
Build powerful partnerships with government, civic, and community organizations
Oversee fund development efforts, including innovative campaigns and signature events
Align organizational structure, policies, and procedures to support the Foundation’s mission
Collaborate with the Board to implement an inclusive, comprehensive vision for the Foundation
Promote the Market Foundation’s impact within the Seattle community and beyond
Leadership Profile
Proven senior leadership experience in nonprofit operations, including strategic planning, budgeting, and fundraising
Exceptional emotional intelligence and communication skills
Experience working with diverse stakeholder groups and public entities
Commitment to social and economic justice, equity-centered leadership, and cultural inclusion
Passion for community engagement and relationship-building with donors, partners, and Market vendors
Ability to inspire and lead a talented team with integrity, vision, and empathy
Compensation & Benefits
Full-time, salaried position based in Seattle (target hiring range of $225,000–$250,000 annually, DOE)
