SUMMARY Responsible for providing the Consulting Team with high quality financial analysis on client projects for any and all areas of underwritings.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepares, evaluates and reviews monthly, quarterly and annual claims utilization versus budget reports.
Provides support and analysis for development of reserve calculations for self-funded health plans.
Independently, and with a high degree of accuracy, supports clients’ health and welfare renewal process by inputting enrollment information, carrier renewals, pricing of benefit changes, and organizing financial data for presentations to clients and developing ad hoc financial exhibits.
Leads the completion of marketing proposals by requesting RFPs, verifying benefits, and evaluating premium rates and market competitiveness.
Works with multiple carrier data and reporting systems as needed to obtain claim data for reporting and analysis purposes.
Assists clients with maintaining compliance with the San Francisco Health Care Security Ordinance.
Assists with analyzing and challenging insurance company renewal calculations for fully-insured contracts (Health, Dental, and Vision).
Actively engage in educational opportunities to further knowledge of underwriting, market trends, and regulatory environment.
Serves as mentor to Senior and Financial Underwriting Analysts and assists team members to resolve financial issues.
Assists in leading the training development and execution on all underwriting and analysis related topics.
Perform all duties in accordance with all company policies and procedures, and all federal, state and local laws, wherein the Company operates.
Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
Five (5) or more years of related work experience
Valid insurance license (or must be obtained within 90 days of employment)
Must continue to meet Continuing Education requirements for license renewal
Encouraged to complete Career Path requirements as communicated by supervisor
SKILLS
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills
Excellent planning, organizational, and prioritization skills
Good customer service skills, including telephone and listening skills
Ability to modify and customize to meet customers needs
Ability and motivation to work independently
Ability to work within a team and to foster teamwork
