Role Summary
The Mortgage and Consumer Credit Officer manages and leads the Mortgage and Consumer Loan Originators to grow and develop the Bank's mortgage and retail loan portfolio. The Mortgage and Consumer Credit Officer ensures mortgage loan practices are sound and in compliance with regulations. Additionally, this position works closely with the Compliance Department and Mortgage and Consumer Loan Processing Manager and has significant interactions with ALCO and the Board of Directors.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities Management
Promotes an atmosphere which fosters our Vision, Virtues and Mission to the employees, customers, communities, and shareholders.
Manages, evaluates, and recognizes the performance of direct reports and provides coaching and guidance to develop and retain staff.
Monitors current trends and market factors in mortgage lending, to manage and reduce bank risk. Recommends terms and conditions of mortgage loans.
Develops and fosters industry relationships, including, but not limited to: homebuilders, real estate professionals, industry and market stakeholders and lenders, other business development contacts and community organizations to promote new lending programs and the Bank's public image.
Supports the Bank's mortgage loan processes and presents opportunities for workflow efficiencies.
Ensures loan quality of Mortgage and Consumer Loan Originators.
Leadership
Develops strategies and sets goals to promote loan growth and improve overall bank profitability.
Participates in the development and implementation of marketing plans and programs as it relates to mortgage loan products and services, to attract and retain customers.
Evaluates, proposes, and develops new market and product opportunities.
Participates in the executive management of Horicon Bank, including, but not limited to the following committees: ALCO, Compliance, and Product Development.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities
Represents Horicon Bank in certain civic and industry organizations.
Maintains status as registered Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO) in compliance with the Secure and Fair Enforcement for Mortgage Licensing Act of 2008. Adhere to policies and procedures related to the Safe Act.
Reviews, analyzes, and processes mortgage loan requests.
Updates knowledge and develops professionally on a continuing basis. Participates in internal and external training and development opportunities as required.
Performs other duties as may be necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of this position.
Fully complies with all applicable enterprise policies and procedures. Acts in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations as outlined in training materials, including but not limited to Bank Secrecy Act. Responsible for reporting suspicious activity to the AML/CFT team.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Bachelor's degree in business management and at least ten years of mortgage loan experience.
Work history must include extensive background in management, marketing, and interpretation of legal regulations affecting banks.
Requires the ability to plan and prioritize work; give presentations to groups; resolve conflicts; and work effectively under pressure and deadlines.
Working Conditions Work is performed in a pleasant office environment with minimal chance for personal injury. Frequent mental concentration is necessary for listening and responding to various situations. Must be able to lift and move up to 20 pounds unassisted. Some twisting, bending, and turning may be required. Work hours are generally during normal business hours and average 40 hours a week. Position requires some unscheduled evening and weekend work. Extensive travel via personal automobile to branch locations is expected. Occasional out-of-town and overnight business travel may be necessary.
