At Guide Dogs for the Blind (GDB), we train guide dogs to create partnerships with individuals who are blind or visually impaired. We are seeking an experienced and mission-driven Director of Information Technology to serve as a member of GDB’s leadership team and provide strategic and operational oversight of all IT functions. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, you’ll lead enterprise-wide technology strategy, cybersecurity, data systems, infrastructure, accessibility, and emergency preparedness in support of GDB’s long‑term sustainability and impact. This is a campus‑based position with hybrid work schedule available after an initial onboarding period.
What you’ll do:
Set and execute GDB’s enterprise technology vision and roadmap, defining standards, governance, policies, and change management frameworks while collaborating with leadership, the IT Steering Committee, and stakeholders to prioritize initiatives that support strategic and operational goals
Lead innovation, data, and AI strategy, identifying opportunities for automation, data‑driven decision‑making, improved user experiences, and system integration while ensuring data integrity, accessibility, and usability across constituent‑facing and internal platforms
Oversee cybersecurity, risk management, and compliance, serving as GDB’s Information and Data Security Officer and developing comprehensive programs for threat monitoring, incident response, backup and recovery, regulatory compliance, cyber‑insurance eligibility, and protection of sensitive health and financial data
Direct IT operations, infrastructure, and vendor partnerships, managing enterprise applications, networks, cloud systems, Salesforce environments, contracts, service agreements, and relationships with consultants and suppliers to ensure performance, reliability, and best value
Manage IT financial planning and organizational leadership, including development and oversight of the operating budget and technology‑related capital project budgets, leading staff and contractors across remote and hybrid environments, and representing IT in organization‑wide initiatives and external partnerships
Lead emergency preparedness and response efforts, chairing the California Emergency Command Team and coordinating campus‑wide emergency planning, drills, training, and incident response to safeguard staff, canines, constituents, facilities, and critical systems

The qualifications you’ll need:
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or a related field preferred; master’s degree, certifications, and emergency preparedness training desirable
8+ years of progressively responsible IT leadership experience in complex environments handling sensitive health and financial data, and strong budgeting, contract negotiation, and vendor management experience
Deep expertise in cybersecurity, infrastructure, data architecture, risk management, compliance, and system integration and demonstrated success developing and executing enterprise technology strategies, governance frameworks, and roadmaps
Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage both technical and non‑technical audiences and lead diverse teams across multiple locations and time zones (remote, hybrid, and on‑campus)
Pay Range: $190,000-$211,000/year
