The Sr Director of Operations-MCS is the leader of the functional unit representing operations for MCS. The Sr. Director-Operations-MCS serves as a key leader in MCS, responsible for driving efficiency, scalability, and transforming business capabilities through strategic execution, operational excellence, technology integration, supply chain management, regulatory compliance, and risk mitigation. Additionally, this role is a key contributor to organic business growth, as well as inorganic growth strategies, ensuring that these initiatives align with the company’s operational capabilities and contribute to MCS’s long‑term goals. The position is based in Rochester, reports to the MCS Chief Operating Officer, serves as a peer to other MCS functional and business unit leaders, and participates as a senior member in MCS executive meetings. The individual directly manages a team of directors who are responsible for a seven hundred‑plus FTE workforce located in Rochester and across the United States. The Sr. Director-Operations-MCS is responsible for the planning, budget, FTE, capital and performance metrics for operational support of each MCS business unit. Domestic and international travel required.
This position is not eligible for sponsorship/we will not sponsor or transfer a visa for this position. Also, Mayo Clinic DOES NOT participate in the F1-STEM OPT extension program.
Qualifications Master's degree in business, health care administration or related field and ten years of operational management experience are required.
Additional Qualifications
Operational management experience must include a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with internal (physician, scientist, administrative, supervisory, and allied health staff) and external client stakeholders.
Must have excellent organizational, human relations, decision‑making and problem‑solving capabilities as well as excellent presentation and communication skills.
Must possess strong financial analysis, and strategic and innovative thinking capabilities.
Must have ability and confidence to effectively function independently, be a self‑starter, a team player and have led direct reports in previous positions.
Must be capable of effectively presenting to internal and external groups at a high level.
Must be accountable, adaptable, flexible, creative, dependable, responsible, and able to perform well within multi‑functional environments.
Must be able to manage people and projects simultaneously and to exercise appropriate judgment when prioritizing projects while adhering to Mayo Clinic and MCS, LLC policies and procedures.
Experience leading customer service, domestic and global logistics, field‑based service teams is a plus.
Operational leadership within an external‑facing entity competing in a highly‑competitive market is preferred.
