
Interfaith Housing Alliance is a nonprofit organization that strengthens communities by providing affordable housing opportunities and supportive services to improve the quality of life and economic stability for seniors, working families and individuals. We are currently seeking a full-time President & CEO to lead our organization. Job Summary Reporting to the Board of Directors, the President/CEO will provide strategic leadership to the organization and oversee various departments direction and outcomes. The President/CEO will also work closely with the community, stakeholders, donors, board and staff to ensure responsible stewardship of resources and effective organizational operations and programs.
Job Responsibilities
Provide visionary and strategic leadership to the organization and translate that vision and strategy into concrete actions that advance the mission.
Maintain a continuous understanding of the organization’s financial position and outlook, and ensure fiscal responsibility and security.
Provide resource development leadership for the organization.
Communicate the mission of Interfaith Housing to various audiences and develop and maintain sound relationships with individuals and organizations which share the organization’s vision.
Support the Board of directors in its governance role, foster its ongoing development, and keep it informed on internal conditions and important external developments.
Work with the Board of Directors to develop strategic plans and annual objectives to accomplish goals.
Establish, build and maintain positive relationships with the Board of Directors, volunteers, actual or potential funders, key stakeholders, and the community-at-large, including similar state and regional institutions and organizations; business, professional and education leaders; service organizations. Serve as primary staff to the Board of Directors and is ex-officio to all Board committees of the organization. Make regular reports to the Board.
Prepare an annual budget for approval by Board of Directors which budget should achieve the mission, vision, and strategic plans of the organization. Responsible for the implementation of the annual budget, including both the expenditures and the realization of revenues through successful fundraising and business management.
Responsible for the recruitment, hiring and annual performance evaluation of all key employees. Create a work environment that attracts and maintains employees of high caliber. Promote constructive interaction among employees, builds confidence, empowers employees, and creates an organizational culture of openness, mutual respect, and trust. Encourage staff development and professional growth. Establish a clear delineation of authority and responsibilities for all employees, including written job descriptions that spell out duties, roles, responsibilities and expectations for all staff.

Requirements Education: A Bachelor’s degree in the social sciences or administration is required; a Master’s degree is preferred.
Experience: At least 10 years of increasingly responsible leadership experience in either the public or nonprofit sectors. A deep understanding of affordable housing issues and ability to work with the key stakeholders in the local communities, corporations and government. A demonstrated record of leadership and success in strategic planning, organizational development, problem solving and fundraising is required.
Knowledge/Skills:
Demonstrated leadership ability;
Significant senior leadership experience in a mid-size nonprofit organization, ideally in an organization providing housing, advocacy and/or neighborhood/community development;
Working knowledge/experience in the housing or real estate development field;
Knowledge of or familiarity with government housing programs;
Experience with LIHTC projects and development;
Demonstrated ability and experience in the fiscal management of an organization or a major program or unit of an organization or business, including budget development and implementation.
Demonstrated networking skills and an ability to sustain and build on the partnerships and collaborations that are already established;
Proven successful record of building and maintaining strong working relationships with internal (staff and Board) and external stakeholders;
Knowledge of or strong comfort level with property management and construction;
Strong and effective written and oral communication skills, as well as excellent public-speaking skills;
Demonstrated ability to articulate a vision; motivate Board, staff, volunteers and the community-at-large to fulfill that vision; and put in place the appropriate infrastructure to achieve the vision;
Demonstrated ability and experience in strategic planning;
Demonstrated skills as a good communicator, listener, and facilitator for change and positive action;
Possession of excellent verbal, writing and organizational skills. Ability to speak effectively to groups of all make-up and sizes;
Demonstrated ability and willingness to be an effective leader and participant in fundraising efforts on behalf of the organization and its programs, including developing and maintaining positive relationships with key stakeholders and actual and/or potential donors. Proven successful track record of fundraising, including the ability to engage and solicit major donors, and experience securing and managing grants;
Demonstrated ability to effectively carry out supervisory responsibilities, including setting clear goals for staff, instituting an annual review and evaluation process, and providing motivation for a high level of achievement through teamwork and collaboration; and
Utilizes professional best practices and strives for continuous improvement.

This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies up to 20 pounds.
