Position Overview
The Strategic Account Manager – Lubes Sales is an outside sales position accountable for the sale of the company’s lubricant products and services as well as commercial fuel. The position also provides ongoing support to the lubricant product distribution channels and customers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Manage assigned accounts for lubricant products and commercial fuel
Contact prospective customers and establish buying cycles, determine customer needs, and create a customer supplier relationship
Increase sales in assigned accounts and negotiate agreements to maximize profit
Develop and nurture strong customer contacts and positive, proactive trusted advisor relationships
Secure and place orders, taking into consideration delivery dates and inventory levels
Understand changes to the marketplace and industry and maintain a high level of product knowledge
Answer customer questions, troubleshoot problems regarding products provided, and address any customer complaints
Prepare sales information for customers and identify opportunities for sales process improvement
Assist with lubricant and parts inventory control
Assist in drafting standard operating procedures for sales staff
Build and maintain small oil tanks at customer request
Other duties as assigned
Requirements Required/Preferred Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent work experience) in a related area and 2+ years of experience in sales operations in a related industry
Experience with managing key customer and vendor relationships and following through on new sales opportunities
Strong customer focus and the ability to multitask and balance multiple customer needs
Excellent listening, negotiation and presentation skills
High level of written and oral communication skills
Well-developed sales skills
Working Environment and Physical Demands Work is performed in a standard office environment with frequent local travel. Requires the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary; may regularly require the ability to lift up to 35 lbs. and occasionally lift 80+ lbs. with assistance.
