Role Overview The Loan Asset Management Senior Associate / Junior Vice President will sit within the Loan Asset Management (“LAM”) team and support the active management of a diversified commercial real estate loan portfolio. The LAM team manages a broad range of commercial real estate loans, including performing and non‑performing senior and junior positions, floating‑rate transitional loans, and complex structured finance investments.
This role supports day‑to‑day asset management execution in close coordination with real estate credit teams, borrowers, servicers, and internal stakeholders. The position requires strong analytical judgment, the ability to manage multiple loans concurrently, and versatility across property types, capital structures, and asset performance profiles.
Title will be determined based on experience, seniority, and demonstrated history managing distressed or underperforming loan assets.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and oversee a portfolio of commercial real estate loans across multiple property types and performance profiles
Develop a deep understanding of each loan’s capital structure, collateral, business plan, and exit strategy
Perform ongoing credit and risk analysis, proactively identify issues, and formulate tactical and strategic recommendations
Support active management of underperforming or distressed assets, including modifications, extensions, and resolution strategies
Update and review property‑level cash flow models and valuations on a monthly basis
Track and analyze key performance metrics including DSCR, debt yield, LTV, occupancy, NOI, and returns
Monitor covenant compliance, reporting requirements, and borrower obligations
Review reserve and construction draw requests and coordinate funding activity with servicers
Lead or participate in borrower performance calls and document risks, action items, and outcomes
Coordinate closely with servicers to monitor payments, remittances, and reporting accuracy
Maintain detailed loan‑level notes, action plans, and performance commentary within Asset Management systems
Prepare loan‑level and portfolio‑level reporting on a monthly, quarterly, and ad‑hoc basis for senior management
Assist in the preparation and presentation of quarterly business plans, dashboards, and management materials
Partner with senior team members on special situations, process enhancements, and reporting improvements
Qualifications Required
Bachelor’s degree in finance, real estate, accounting, economics, or a related field
3+ years of experience in real estate loan asset management, servicing, or real estate credit
Experience managing or supporting portfolios of commercial real estate loans across multiple asset types
Strong understanding of commercial real estate valuation, underwriting, and lending fundamentals
Proven financial modeling skills with advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Ability to manage multiple assets and priorities in a fast‑paced environment
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including borrower and internal stakeholder interaction
High attention to detail, sound judgment, and strong organizational skills
Strongly Preferred
Direct experience managing distressed, underperforming, or special situation loans
Experience working with asset management databases and portfolio reporting tools
Prior exposure to loan workouts, modifications, extensions, or resolution strategies
Argus experience a plus, but not required
Leveling & Title Considerations
Senior Associate: Typically 3–5 years of experience with strong asset management fundamentals and exposure to complex or underperforming loans
Junior Vice President: Typically 5+ years of experience with demonstrated ownership of distressed assets, borrower negotiations, and independent credit judgment
