The Business Development Director (BD Director) will lead the Business Development team (BD Team), develop and execute the Business Development strategy in collaboration with Impact Hubs, and represent the Network in key donor/client relationships and at major events and forums. The purpose of the role is to: Lead the design and execution of a network-wide business development strategy. Oversee revenue-generating activities at the global level, including translocal programs, services, partnerships, and other forms of collaboration. Develop and steward long-term global partnerships with corporates, philanthropic and public sector donors, and other ecosystem actors. Represent the Impact Hub Network at key events and forums. Strengthen the positioning and influence of Impact Hub as a leading global platform for social innovation and entrepreneurship. The Business Development Team at Impact Hub Global has played an important role in developing relationships with strategic partners, major donors, and corporate clients across a variety of sectors and geographies on behalf of and in close collaboration with the Impact Hub Network. This effort has generated funding for translocal programmes and strategic initiatives of the network, contributed to growing the capacity of Impact Hubs, and strengthened the positioning of Impact Hub Network via ambitious and impactful interventions. Impact Hub’s new strategic roadmap builds on previous achievements of the Network and sets the next level of ambition, which provides new opportunities for the development of partnerships and donor/client relationships, strengthens Impact Hub’s positioning and our offering to clients and donors in an evolving market. The BD Director role will play an important role in translating the Roadmap for key audiences into tangible, valuable, and impactful initiatives and services. Key Responsibilities
1. Business Development Team Leadership and Management Lead role within the Business Development Team (BD Team) with the expectation of holding proactive domain leadership, including strategy, BD Team budget, P&L, and quality of service delivery Provide oversight, guidance, and development support to the members of the Business Development Team to achieve annual and long-term goals Pursue the agreed fundraising/sales target in line with Impact Hub’s Mission and Roadmap. Ensure the fundraising/sales pipeline is up-to-date, and accurate data is provided to Management and the Finance Team regularly. Hold annual planning and quarterly reviews with the team and manage team performance on an ongoing basis and through mid-year and annual performance reviews. 2. Sales, Fundraising, and Relationship Management Identify, establish, and strengthen client/funder/partner relationships and manage communication with respective leads. Identify opportunities to extend and/or expand current partnerships. Represent Impact Hub at selected events and forums Develop comprehensive proposals and presentations as a part of the fundraising/sales process, including drafting bids, in response to calls and tenders published by private and public donors, in collaboration with Impact Hubs, Regional Leads, and the BD Team Serve as the primary point of contact with assigned donors/clients for high-level communication and issue resolution. Respond promptly to donor/client inquiries and ensure feedback is shared with relevant stakeholders (e.g., Program Manager, Program Oversight) 3. Business Development Strategy Lead the development and execution of the Business Development strategy in support of Impact Hub’s Strategic Roadmap. Contribute to the evolution of Impact Hub’s positioning towards key market segments (prioritized categories of donors and corporate clients). Manage the evolution of our portfolio of services and offerings in collaboration with our Brand & Marketing, Programs Quality, and Innovation teams. Manage costing and pricing in collaboration with our Finance and Programs Quality teams. Translate key elements of Impact Hub’s Strategic Roadmap to a clear narrative and engagement opportunities for donors and partners. 4. Team and Network Engagement As a member of Impact Hub’s Global team, you will: Report to the Managing Director – Global Business Collaborate primarily with the Programs Quality Team, Impact Intelligence, Finance, Brand & Communications, and Network Value teams Participate in key meetings of the global team In the Impact Hub Network, you will: Collaborate closely with Impact Hubs Coordinate with and support regional leads/teams Communicate with our External Advisory Board as needed Participate in selected global and regional gatherings and other network events 5. You have experience working for an international network and are familiar with the dynamics of networked organisations. You have demonstrated an ability to fundraise and/or sell through developing relevant partnerships, managing sustainable relationships with partners, and developing new products and business lines. You are used to attending conferences, forging collaborations, and envisioning new impact-driven initiatives. You are a natural networker.
