
Product Director, Data Privacy (COPPA, GDPR)

About the Role: Pixalate is growing its data privacy and children’s online safety team and is looking for a senior privacy expert to engage with product, engineering, policymakers and stakeholders to champion children’s safety and consumer privacy online. You will be the subject‑matter expert on relevant children’s online privacy laws, including COPPA, GDPR‑K, ongoing regulatory changes at the US state and federal levels, and pertinent EU regulations such as GDPR and the UK Age Appropriate Design Code.
Responsibilities
In‑house expert in global privacy regulations, with a special focus on COPPA, GDPR‑K and other relevant children’s data protection and online safety laws
Advocate children’s online privacy internally and externally
Drive the vision, strategy, direction and roadmap of the Children’s Online Safety Product
Co‑own the product roadmap with Product, Engineering and Data Science teams
Work cross‑functionally across different teams to maintain, develop and expand relevant privacy compliance tools
Understand the data governance and public policy implications of data privacy in online advertising
Regularly engage with legislators and regulators to identify key policy changes
Work with the global team to develop briefing papers, blog posts, presentations, consultation responses and conduct webinars, brown bags and client presentations
Qualifications
JD is preferred
Experience in a trade association, think‑tank, university, consulting, law firm, compliance or in‑house role
Experience and interest in Children’s online privacy and COPPA and GDPR compliance
Knowledge of California online privacy laws / Age Appropriate Design Code
3+ years of experience with data privacy regulatory requirements and compliance issues
Excellent writing and proofreading skills
Degree in Law/Technology related subject
Prior experience working in data privacy, AI or data security
CIPP (or equivalent) certification
Major law firm, in‑house or government experience
