
The Social Media Manager will lead the campaign’s day-to-day social media presence, create and manage digital content, and help shape Mayor Mahan’s online voice across platforms.
Responsibilities
Plan, create, and publish content across the campaign’s social media channels, including rapid‑response and evergreen posts. Capture, coordinate, and quickly turn around photo/video content at campaign events, press moments, and field stops. Draft and edit platform‑specific copy, graphics briefs, captions, scripts, and posting calendars. Travel with Mayor Mahan as needed to support real‑time content creation and collaborate with communications, policy, political, field, and fundraising teams to execute the overarching campaign plan. Requirements
At least one cycle in a digital, social media, or communications role on a federal, statewide, or major local campaign. Knowledge of California and national politics, with strong instincts for message discipline and rapid response. Exceptional writing, video/photo editing, visual judgment, and interpersonal skills. Proficiency with major social platforms and familiarity with basic design/video editing tools; willingness to create content quickly and often. Willingness to commit fully to the demands of a high‑intensity statewide race, working nights, weekends, and holidays. Candidates with proficiency in Spanish and experience growing political or advocacy social accounts are preferred. Compensation
