Spokane County, which is located in eastern Washington, owns and operates three beautiful 18-hole championship public golf courses which serve residents and visitors of the Inland Northwest. The Mechanic is a shared position for both Liberty Lake and MeadowWood Golf Course and is considered the sole caretaker for both courses’ equipment fleets. This position is responsible for the independent coordination, oversight and operation of the maintenance facilities shop. Duties include but are not limited to mechanical diagnostic, repair and supervisory work, servicing gas and diesel powered light trucks, cars, heavy equipment and highly specialized equipment designed for turf care/grounds maintenance of the golf course facilities.

Requirements:

High School diploma or equivalent, and five years of related mechanical experience in the repair of gasoline and diesel vehicles and equipment.

LICENSE: Completion of a recognized mechanics apprenticeship program (ASE certification preferred) -and- completion of a recognized welder apprenticeship program and/or trade school desirable.

Knowledge, skills and abilities

Diagnoses correctly, problems with vehicles, equipment and/or machinery and safely and skillfully performs repairs.

Proper repair and maintenance of both gasoline and diesel powered equipment.

Diagnostic and repair principles of electrical systems.

Troubleshoot, repair and fabrication of hydraulic systems.

Read and interpret service charts, repair manuals, drawings and sketches of mechanical and/or electrical systems.

Skilled in welding/fabrication

Work independently with limited supervision.

Operate a variety of tools.

Operate vehicles and equipment in a safe and responsible manner.

Establish and maintain an effective working relationship with other employees and supervisors.

Effectively handle multiple projects.

Use sound judgement and follow written and verbal instructions.

Communicate effectively and tactfully.

Lead train and effectively evaluate and/or manage the work of staff.

Skilled in the use of computers and related software.

Ability to promptly and accurately keep records of repairs and maintenance.

Handling basic accounting procedures and functions quickly and accurately.

Ability to perform heavy lifting and sustained physical labor.

Periodically assists with the maintenance and setup of the golf courses for daily play.
