This is a temporary position with an expected duration not to exceed (10) months.
Position Summary This position is part of the NBA Social & Digital Content team which focuses on identifying, creating, distributing and publishing content to the NBA's social and digital platforms and its many domestic and international partners throughout the world. As the demand for content on the NBA's social platforms continues to grow, this is your opportunity to grow with us in a fast‑paced, innovative and collaborative environment, reaching social followers around the world. This is a project employee position. The ideal candidate is an X expert who knows all the latest trends, how to create content on the platform and fully understands the publishing process. Not only do they understand X, but they understand how to speak and write about the game of basketball, the NBA’s players and teams and statistics and history around the game while maintaining a brand voice. Lastly, this candidate has their finger on the pulse of the NBA and spends their free time immersing themselves in podcasts, message boards or consuming short and long form content about the NBA.
Major Responsibilities
Provide real‑time game coverage by publishing to the NBA’s X accounts (which may include: @NBA, @NBAStats, @NBAHistory, @NBADraft and @NBAKicks)
Write copy for posts in lead‑up to games, during games and postgame that promote top NBA moments, performances, and storylines, as well as pointing fans to where they can watch games
Manage player narratives and storylines for all 30 teams across the league each night
Work closely with content creation team on a nightly basis to identify, create and publish short‑form content optimized for X
Manage additional platform features, such as creating X Moments and assisting with X Spaces
Assist with publishing to and tracking content apart of X Amplify monetization program
Assist with maintaining X Lists including NBA’s players, teams and media members
Assist with daily and nightly content planning for each of the NBA’s X accounts
Assist with publishing content to additional NBA social platforms when needed
Required Skills/Knowledge
Understanding of X at an expert level, has a feel for #NBAX and the way fans consume NBA content on the platform
Understanding of the NBA at an expert level, and is passionate about the storylines surrounding its players, coaches, teams, statistics, standings and history of the league
Watches and consumes NBA basketball content on a daily and nightly basis
Excellent understanding of basketball stats and analytics, the rules of the game and the history of the game
Strong editorial background in basketball, culture and extensions of the game
Understanding of the NBA’s social voice
Strong experience publishing to X for a sports brand or media organization
Understanding of available X data and metrics to inform decision‑making
Expert on the NBA’s season calendar of events
Experience in publishing to other social platforms
Ability to work on deadline and handle multiple tasks at once with a precise and detail‑oriented approach
Ability to perform in a fast‑paced environment while handling critical tasks in a composed and timely manner
Excellent organizational and project management skills
Great communication skills and ability execute detailed feedback
Willingness to work a flexible schedule as this position may include working days, nights, weekends and holidays based on the NBA calendar
Must be a team player who can work collaboratively
