
The Marketing Manager is responsible for working with the Maltz Jupiter Theatre’s team to organize all of the Theatre’s marketing, advertising, public relations, box office, and communications functions. This position is charged with the promotion and communication of the Maltz Jupiter Theatre’s core mission and artistic programming through effective advertising strategies. The Marketing Manager also organizes marketing initiatives and products for the Goldner Conservatory.
The Marketing Manager reports to the Producing Artistic Director/Chief Executive and works closely with other managers throughout the organization in order to understand internal marketing needs and translate them into strong and consistent messages. This position will participate in conversations about institutional issues that have Theatre-wide impact.
This position supports a cooperative Marketing Department that includes the Marketing Art Director, Graphic Designer, Sales Manager, Marketing Associate, and any external public relations and graphic design contractors.
Responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:
Collaborating with the Producing Artistic Director/Chief Executive and Design Team to execute the presentation and promotion of the Theatre—including its mission, artistic vision, and image—internally and externally to the community
Developing and maintaining ongoing relationships with local and national press, and other media contacts
Developing and managing the Marketing Department budget, which includes production marketing plans, publications budget, and the Conservatory marketing budget
Collaborating and establishing strong relationships with community leaders, chambers of commerce, theatre community, and other business organizations
Creating exclusive media or partner opportunities for the Theatre as part of the overall strategy for each season as needed
Collaborating with the box office on all single ticket sales, subscription campaigns, and group sales strategies; executing a marketing plan to reach box office sales goals
Working with the Box Office Manager to integrate Audience View CRM/Database for all marketing and e-marketing efforts, including e-blasts and social media to track and plan campaigns
Utilizing SEO best practices to enhance online visibility and drive traffic to the Theatre’s website
Working in unison with the Marketing Department to develop and execute the overall marketing strategy for the organization
Negotiating media buys, trades, as well as co-op opportunities
Assist the Sales Manager as needed in selling program ads for Footlights and the Conservatory Footlights
Oversee the development of articles, artist bios, advertisement placements, etc.
Working collaboratively with the Development Department to provide an integrated approach between fundraising and marketing
Working collaboratively with staff of the Goldner Conservatory to develop marketing and recruitment initiatives
Ensuring that marketing projects are completed by appropriate deadlines; following up with other departments to ensure that design requests, copy, and other deliverables are provided to the Marketing team in a timely manner
With the Producing Artistic Director/Chief Executive, develop and manage the schedule of weekly Theatre eblasts; working collaboratively with the Marketing Department and other departments to develop messaging
Coordinating media interviews for visiting artists with the PR Consultant and the Stage Manager; coordinating lunches for artists being interviewed as needed
Delivering weekly reports to the Producing Artistic Director/Chief Executive about ongoing and upcoming marketing campaigns
Contributing to a positive working environment for the marketing team and Theatre staff
Attend marketing outreach and networking events as needed
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior experience and employment in marketing and public relations in a fast-paced environment, preferably in theatre, the performing arts, or in a not-for-profit organization
Experience in the execution, and management of successful marketing and sales programs
Knowledge of pricing, statistics and analytics, media buying, target marketing strategies, branding, and audience development
Experience with social media advertising
Effective operational and strategic management skills, and demonstrated experience managing and motivating a staff in a team-oriented environment
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to effectively represent the Theatre in public
Exceptionally detail oriented and deadline-driven
Strong writing and proofreading skills
Must be able to create and implement a balanced budget
Excellent computer skills and knowledge of ticketing software (Audience View), Word, Excel, PowerPoint
Abachelor’s degree in advertising, marketing, communications, and journalism or theatre arts
Pay: $60k plus benefits. Full-time, year-round
