Job Summary/Objective: The Assistant Director of Technology supports the IT Director in overseeing the school’s technology infrastructure, providing technical leadership, and ensuring the efficient and secure operation of the school’s IT systems. This role involves managing IT services, supporting the faculty, staff, and students, and ensuring that the school’s technological resources align with its educational mission.
Reports to: Director of Technology and Information Systems Essential functions:
Assist in managing the school's IT infrastructure, including networks, servers, and data security.
Oversee daily IT operations and provide end-user support for students, faculty, and staff.
Collaborate with other departments to integrate and support technology in the classroom.
Maintain and troubleshoot hardware, software, and network systems.
Ensure the security of the school’s information systems, including backup, recovery, and cybersecurity measures.
Develop and implement IT policies and procedures in alignment with the school’s goals.
Provide training and technical support to faculty and staff on new and existing systems.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Monitor and maintain IT systems and services, including Blackbaud, PowerSchool, Schoology, Google, Microsoft, and other platforms.
Manage the school’s network, including Meraki switches and firewalls, ensuring optimal performance and security.
Provide cybersecurity support, including managing firewalls and ensuring data protection.
Assist in device management using platforms such as Microsoft Intune.
Work with vendors for purchasing, repairs, and software/hardware support.
Support and manage administrative functions related to IT, including budget management, purchasing, and inventory.
Assist in the training of IT team members.
Monitor the daily workflow of the IT support team.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, and other related software.
Knowledge of network management and cybersecurity principles.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
Five years minimum experience in technology department or support within an educational setting.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Master’s degree in Information Technology or related field.
Previous experience working with educational technology platforms like Blackbaud or Schoology.
Technology Leadership experience.
Work Conditions and Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
Bending, twisting, lifting, and carrying technology equipment.
