Our client located in Palo Alto is one of the largest communication, device and data intelligence companies in the world. They are urgentlyis seeking a Senior Product Marketing Manager for our data platform solution, Tanzu Data Intelligence. This is a high-impact role requiring strategic thinking, hands-on execution, and exceptional cross-functional collaboration. You will work closely with Product Management, Sales Leadership, Analyst Relations, and the wider Tanzu Marketing team to ensure Tanzu Data Intelligence is clearly positioned as the definitive solution for a modern, AI-ready data platform for private cloud.
This position requires 5 days a week onsite in Palo Alto
Responsibilities
Define Core Narrative: Develop compelling, clear, and differentiated messaging and positioning for Tanzu Data Intelligence for multiple audiences including executive buyers and technical influencers. Persona Development: Research, develop, and continually refine buyer and user personas (e.g., CIOs, CTOs, Data Architects, Data Engineers) based on market research, competitive shifts, sales feedback, and product usage data. Consistency Assurance: Ensure message consistency across all marketing touchpoints, including website, digital campaigns, sales presentations, analyst engagements, and thought leadership content. Competitive Analysis: Conduct analysis on key competitors' capabilities, GTM strategies, and messaging. Develop and share proactive strategies and content to highlight Tanzu's differentiation and address competitive risks. (GTM) Leadership
GTM Strategy: Drive GTM strategy and execution for major product launches and feature releases within the Tanzu Data Intelligence portfolio. Define launch tiers, target audiences, and success metrics (KPIs). Launch Execution: Manage and deliver Bill of Materials (BOM) and content plan for releases, ensuring timely creation and delivery of high-quality assets such as web pages, solution briefs, blogs and sales training materials. Analyst Engagement: Collaborate with Analyst Relations and Product Management to provide compelling positioning, roadmap updates, and proof points for key evaluations (e.g., Gartner MQs, Forrester Waves, IDC MarketScapes), directly influencing market perception. Performance Tracking: Measure and report on the effectiveness of GTM initiatives and content performance, focusing on key metrics such as web traffic, pipeline contribution, sales engagement, and analyst momentum. Sales Enablement and Field Support
Enablement Content: Create and maintain high-impact sales assets, including designing sales plays, pitch decks, competitive battlecards, qualification guides and objection-handling. Platform Integration: Partner with PMMs across the broader Tanzu portfolio to integrate Data Intelligence messaging seamlessly into adjacent product narratives and joint enablement efforts. Content Management: Own and curate sales content, ensuring all materials are up-to-date, relevant, and aligned with the latest product strategy and messaging. Content Strategy and Amplification
Digital Campaign Content: Drive the creation of foundational marketing content (e.g. solution videos, customer success stories, video testimonials) to fuel demand generation campaigns and position Tanzu as a thought leader in modern data services. Web & Digital Presence: Manage and optimize the Tanzu Data Intelligence web presence, working closely with Integrated Marketing team members to maximize visibility and organic search performance. Event Support: Contribute compelling content and messaging for major industry events, including VMware Explore, executive keynotes, and targeted field events. Required Skill
Bachelor’s in degree or higher (or local equivalent and 12+ years of experience in Product Marketing for on-premises database technologies. Familiarity with open source data technology ecosystems, such as Postgres, MySQL, etc. Demonstrated success in defining and executing go-to-market strategies for technical data products. Proven ability to create high-quality, differentiated messaging for complex technical concepts that resonates with technical and business audiences. Experience contributing to or managing Analyst Relations cycles (e.g., Gartner, Forrester). Demonstrated ability to use data (web analytics, pipeline metrics, sales feedback) to inform and optimize marketing strategy. Strong collaboration, communication, presentation and stakeholder management skills, with experience working across multiple teams. The Offer
