Position Overview ĒSO Architecture is seeking an Architectural Staff Level III / Sr. Associate to play a lead technical role on projects from concept through completion. This position is intended for an experienced architect who brings strong technical judgment, coordination skills, and the ability to guide project teams through complex design and documentation challenges.
Architectural Staff III team members serve as subject matter experts on building systems and technical solutions, coordinate closely with project leadership and consultants, and represent the firm’s technical viewpoint throughout the life of a project.
Required Qualifications
Professional degree in Architecture from an accredited institution
Minimum of 8 years of professional architectural experience
Demonstrated experience supporting projects from conceptual design through construction
Strong technical expertise in building systems, detailing, and constructability
Proficiency in Archicad or related BIM platforms, AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, and SketchUp
Working knowledge of City of Austin codes, permitting processes, and consultant coordination
Excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining quality, accuracy, and deadlines
Key Responsibilities
Participate in and support conceptual design through all project phases
Develop and represent the lead technical approach on assigned projects
Translate design intent into clear, coordinated, and buildable drawings and specifications
Serve as a subject matter expert on specialized systems, assemblies, or technical challenges
Coordinate directly with consultants, contractors, and internal team members to maintain schedules and deliverables
Liaise closely with project managers, associate principals, and firm leadership on technical solutions and product strategies
Oversee production tasks, manage redlines, and ensure compliance with firm standards and QA/QC procedures
Support and participate in client presentations and technical discussions
Provide guidance, mentorship, and technical oversight to associates and junior staff
Monitor task‑level budgets, schedules, and scope, flagging risks or issues early
Contribute to internal initiatives related to standards, quality control, and continuous improvement
Performance Expectations
Consistent on‑time delivery of assigned project phases
High level of technical accuracy with reduced rework during QA/QC
Effective coordination and oversight of project team members
Clear, professional communication with clients and consultants
Early identification and escalation of issues impacting scope, schedule, or fees
Accurate time tracking and responsible use of firm resources
Active contribution to team development and firm‑wide standards
