Position Summary The Construction Estimator plays a critical role in the financial success of Barber Drywall, Inc. This position is responsible for reviewing construction documents, performing detailed quantity take-offs, and preparing accurate estimates to support bidding and project planning.

This role requires strong attention to detail, the ability to interpret construction drawings, and collaboration with project managers to ensure estimates align with job specifications, site conditions, and company standards.

Key Responsibilities

Review architectural drawings, specifications, and bid documents to determine project scope and requirements

Perform detailed quantity take-offs for drywall, framing, materials, and related construction components

Prepare accurate and well-documented take-off reports to support project estimates and bids

Collaborate with project managers and operations staff to review scope, assumptions, and job requirements

Analyze job site conditions and adjust estimates based on actual project constraints

Input and manage data within estimating software to ensure consistency and accuracy

Support the bidding process by preparing reliable, competitive estimates

Process change orders and revise estimates as project scope changes

Ensure compliance with company standards, estimating procedures, and applicable regulations

Stay current on construction methods, materials, pricing trends, and applicable building codes

Qualifications

Minimum of 4+ years of experience in construction estimating or quantity take-offs

Strong knowledge of construction principles, methods, and materials (drywall experience preferred)

Proficiency with estimating software such as PlanSwift or Bluebeam; Procore experience is a plus

Strong mathematical skills with a solid understanding of geometry

Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings

Familiarity with construction materials and associated costs

High level of attention to detail and accuracy in calculations

Strong communication and collaboration skills

Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines

High school diploma or equivalent required

Certification in construction management or estimating is preferred
