Description

We are seeking a driven and detail-oriented

E-Commerce Manager

to lead and grow our online vehicle sales strategy. This role is responsible for managing digital retailing, internet lead handling, online merchandising, and customer experience from the first click to delivery. The ideal candidate understands both automotive sales operations and modern online buying behavior and can bridge the gap between digital engagement and showroom conversion.

This position plays a critical role in increasing lead conversion, improving response times, and delivering a seamless online purchasing experience for customers.

Key Responsibilities: Digital Sales & Lead Management

Oversee all internet leads, chat, text, and digital retailing platforms

Ensure rapid response times and high-quality communication with online customers

Develop and maintain response templates, processes, and follow-up schedules

Work directly with the sales team to convert online inquiries into appointments and deliveries

Monitor and improve appointment show rates and closing ratios

Online Merchandising

Maintain accurate and compelling vehicle listings across websites and third-party marketplaces

Ensure inventory photos, pricing, descriptions, and options are complete and competitive

Optimize vehicle descriptions for SEO and customer clarity

Manage pricing strategy in coordination with management and market data

Digital Retailing & Customer Experience

Manage online buying tools (credit apps, trade valuations, payment calculators, remote paperwork)

Improve online purchase flow and reduce friction in the buying process

Assist customers with remote purchase transactions and home deliveries

Coordinate with F&I and Sales Managers for deal structure and documentation

Performance Tracking & Reporting

Track KPIs such as response time, lead conversion, appointment rate, and online sales volume

Provide weekly performance reports and improvement recommendations

Identify trends in customer behavior and adjust processes accordingly

Cross-Department Collaboration

Partner with Marketing on campaigns, landing pages, and promotions

Coordinate with Service and Parts for accessory and protection package opportunities

Train sales staff on digital communication best practices

Requirements

Automotive dealership experience (Internet Manager, BDC Manager, or Sales Manager preferred)

Strong understanding of CRM systems and digital retailing platforms

Experience handling internet leads and online customers

Excellent written communication and customer service skills

Ability to analyze reports and improve performance metrics

Highly organized with strong follow-through

Comfortable working in a fast‑paced dealership environment

Solid understanding of automotive sales processes, desking, and CRM systems

Customer‑focused mindset with strong problem‑solving abilities

Valid driver’s license and ability to pass background and MVR checks

Preferred Skills

Experience with dealership CRMs (VinSolutions, DealerSocket, CDK, etc.)

Knowledge of digital retailing tools and online purchase workflows

Basic understanding of SEO and online merchandising strategy

Experience with third‑party listing sites (AutoTrader, Cars.com, CarGurus)

Process‑building and team training experience
