Salary and Compensation
With Golf Shop Ownership: Annual Base Compensation Range: $85,000 - $95,000 salary; Total Target Annual Compensation: $175,000 to $200,000.
Without Golf Shop Ownership: Annual Base Compensation Range: $105,000 - $115,000 salary; Total Target Annual Compensation: $145,000 to $170,000.
The Total Target Annual Compensation includes salary plus variable income streams: Performance Bonuses (negotiable, based on KPIs), Lesson Income, Merchandise Commission, Club fitting, and Club repairs.
About Western Hills Country Club Founded in 1912, Western Hills Country Club is a private, member‑owned club located just west of Cincinnati. The club features a premier 18‑hole Thomas Bendelow designed championship golf course and a welcoming membership community that blends tradition with an eye for growing into the future. The Club operates 12 months per year, transitioning to a limited four‑day schedule (Thursday — Sunday) January thru March. WHCC has a full membership (530 families) with a wait list, gross revenues of approximately $7M, and averages 21,000 golf rounds each year including several private outings. The club continues to invest in facility improvements and is well positioned for sustained growth, while preserving its classic golf and private club heritage.
WHCC is seeking an experienced and motivated Head Golf Professional to lead all aspects of the club’s golf operation. This is an excellent opportunity for a self‑starter who values autonomy, accountability, and the ability to shape a department’s structure, staffing, and culture. Our current staff structure includes a part‑time Merchandiser and two full‑time assistant golf professionals plus one part‑time assistant. The Club is strategically positioning for growth and the Head Golf Professional will maintain direct oversight of all staff and resources. We’re looking for an independent, creative thinker who thrives in a results‑oriented environment, someone who doesn’t wait for direction but instead builds solutions. You’ll be empowered to lead your team, create operational systems, and establish service standards that elevate the member golf experience. Key Responsibilities Strategic Operations & Asset Management
Establish, execute, and monitor the operational strategy and high service standards for the entire golf department.
Direct the daily operations, including bag room, cart services, practice facilities, and tee time management.
Effectively administer GPS on the Golf Cart fleet and maintain communications and Geofence system.
Team Leadership & Staff Development
Recruit, lead, mentor, and formally evaluate all golf operations staff, including Assistant Professionals, and Merchandising staff.
Establish comprehensive training systems and service procedures that ensure operational excellence and consistent member experience.
Enforce golf rules and regulations and ensure that the staff understands club rules and communicates them accordingly.
Strategic Retail Management
Develop and execute the annual retail buying plan and vendor strategy.
Use Golf Shop Genius for placing, tracking, and delivering Special Orders.
Oversee inventory control and all related Jonas POS procedures.
Ensure rigorous inventory control and accountability for achieving targeted Gross Margin performance across all retail categories using Jonas POS analytics.
Maintain professional retail standards and member service excellence.
Maintain excellent supplier and vendor relationships.
Tournament & Member Play Programming
Plan, coordinate, and execute a full calendar of member tournaments and events using Golf Genius and ForeTees with expertise in WHS Handicapping and the Rules of Golf.
Oversee leagues, scoring, and results communications.
Ensure a professional, organized, and enjoyable playing experience for members and guests.
Governance, Instruction & Member Engagement
Provide lessons, clinics, and member programming for all player levels.
Promote junior golf and developmental opportunities for all ages.
Serve as an ambassador of the club and golf community.
Functions as the primary management liaison with the Golf Committee and attends all meetings. Provides data‑driven recommendations to the GM/COO on events, user fee structure, hours of operation, and guest privileges for policy review and approval.
Interdepartmental Coordination: Maintain a formal, cooperative relationship with the Golf Course Superintendent to proactively manage turf, course conditions, and ensure timely, professional communication to the membership regarding maintenance and playability.
Competent player who has an interest in improving his or her own game and helping members improve.
Plays golf with Membership as appropriate when time and circumstances allow.

Requirements Desired Qualifications
PGA Member or Associate in good standing
3–5 years of relevant professional experience (Head Pro or strong Assistant Pro)

Proficiency with Golf Genius, ForeTees, and Jonas (or equivalent)
Demonstrated ability to manage staff, budgets, and multiple priorities
