
Jewish Services Marketing Specialist

PURPOSE: The Jewish Board’s Marketing & Communications Department creates a positive public perception of our agency’s mental health and social service programs with a broad audience of stakeholders – including current and potential clients, client referral sources, donors, employees, volunteers, and the media – to help New Yorkers of all ages and backgrounds get the support and care they need.
POSITION OVERVIEW: The Jewish Services Marketing Specialist will support our Jewish Community Services division in educating and activating prospective and current clients across the different denominations of the Jewish community by developing print and digital materials geared toward the Jewish community. The Specialist role is about more than just marketing—it’s about connecting people with critical support, uplifting communities, and making a real difference in their lives. Working directly with our Jewish Community Services and the Marketing teams, the Specialist will develop marketing content for programs that fall under our Jewish Community Services, including: a teen mental health outreach program; a Jewish specialty mental health clinic; a program that provides services to Jewish alcoholics, chemically dependent people, and others in recovery; crisis services; Jewish loss and bereavement groups; and outreach and support for those impacted by domestic violence. The Specialist will help implement campaigns, report and respond to outcomes and feedback, and plan how to strengthen their effectiveness. A successful candidate will have a strong interest in the mental health field, an understanding of the different Jewish communities across New York City, or a willingness to learn about them, and a solid grasp of digital and offline marketing techniques to effectively position our programs to their target audiences.
Key Essential Functions
Develop effective print and digital marketing collateral, including flyers, one‑sheets, resource guides, newspaper ads, web banners, and newsletters, that communicate the various mental health services we offer to the Jewish community
Create social media posts to promote programs and build an engaged community
Create materials for events designed to promote awareness of our initiatives and services
Maintain Jewish communal program‑facing content across The Jewish Board’s digital properties, including our external‑facing website and internal‑facing intranet
Collaborate with external partners on shared campaigns and cross‑promotional initiatives
Track engagement and performance metrics to determine what’s working (and what’s not) and refine strategies to ensure our services are reaching our target audience
Identify effective platforms to promote our Jewish services, including local Jewish media
Support general Marketing department initiatives, as needed
Work with the team in monitoring social media channels for messages, inquiries, and comments, and direct these messages to the appropriate program staff
Core Competencies
Familiarity with the marketing landscape for Jewish audiences
An understanding of the various denominations of Jewish faith, Jewish culture, and the nuances of the different Jewish communities, or a willingness to learn about this community
Experience with creating content on some or all major social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Reddit, BlueSky, and Snapchat)
Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, and Premiere) and WordPress
Well‑developed writing and editing skills
Contributing to a culture of teamwork and collegiality both within the Marketing team and between the Marketing and Jewish Community Services teams
An interest in learning and adapting to new systems and platforms that can improve our ability to reach department goals
The ability to work on multiple projects with set deadlines and the ability to shift priorities
Being comfortable working with individuals who may have faced traumatic experiences
An understanding of the importance of platforming a range of voices and views on both the communities The Jewish Board serves and its staff
A sensitivity to the impact that the language we use has on both the communities The Jewish Board serves and its staff
The ability to speak additional languages is a plus
Educational/Training Required
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, art/graphic design, visual communications, or a related field.
Experience Required / Language Preference
One to four years of experience in producing marketing materials
Bilingual a plus
Computer Skills Required
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word and PowerPoint in particular)
Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator in particular)
Experience working in a Mac environment
Visual and Manual Dexterity The candidate should be able to read paper and electronic documents and develop marketing materials using various computer programs.
Work Environment / Physical Effort
The work environment involves no physical risk or hazardous conditions.
To perform the essential functions of this job, the candidate is routinely required to sit (90% of the time) and stand (10% of the time).
Some tasks involve helping set up equipment and event signage.
