
Assistant Housing Operations Coordinator/Residence Hall Director

The Assistant Housing Operations Coordinator/Residence Hall Director is a 12-month live-in position that reports to the Director of Housing and Residence Life. The essential duties include support of room selection and assignment processes, assisting with summer resident housing, promoting housing services, and facilitating the daily operations of an on-campus residence hall. The Assistant Housing Operations Coordinator/Residence Hall Director is responsible for a residence hall with 50-100 beds, as well as serving in an administrative capacity within the Office of Housing and Residence Life.
Qualification Associate’s degreein a related field (e.g.,Communications,Education,Business Administration/Management, Information Systems, etc.).
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
Minimum2 yearsofexperience in housing operations, student services/affairs,or related administrative student support roles.
Experiencein housing management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Familiarity with FERPA and other student data privacy regulations.
Knowledge of highereducationhousing operations and student services.
Roles, Duties, and Responsibilities The Assistant Housing Operations Coordinator/Residence Hall Director will work directly withthe Director of Housing and Residence Lifeand the Housing Operations Coordinator. This position is responsiblefor administrative duties associated with assisting in the residential assignment process, Student Code of Conduct adjudication, and support for daily Housing and Residence Life operations.
Housing Assignments, Administrative, and Secretarial Support
Assist Housing Operations Coordinator with the management of the housing database for room selection and assignment, room condition and damage billing, and meal plan assignment and billing. Prepare daily, weekly reports as needed.
Assistwith budget tracking,purchasing, and invoice processingfor allmain officeinventory.
Collaborate with Residence Life staff to ensure smooth move-in/move-out processes.
Respond to student and parent inquiriesregardinghousing assignments, policies, and procedures.
Assist with summer housing for students to include assignments and billing. Assist with summer campus if needed, including marketing, hosting, and billing.
Student Conduct and Crisis Management
Provide direct administrative support to the Director, including Student Conduct scheduling, correspondence, and document preparation.
Assistin the case of emergencies and severe weatherwithin the assigned residence hall
Maintainan accuratelist of all residents to beutilizedin case of fire, tornado, or other emergenciesrequiring students to evacuate.
Communicateany student concerns as they pertain to mental health and Title IX-related issues to theappropriate administrators.
Follow procedures as outlined inthe emergencyNWCC Emergency Response Plan.
Residence Life Operations
Display initiative and leadership in administering the managerial duties and responsibilities for the daily operations of an on-campus residence hall of 50 – 100 residents.
Serve as the immediate supervisor fordesignatedResident Assistantsand Information Assistants
Prepare the assigned residence hall for all residents to move into prior to the falland springsemestersand maintainaccurateand confidential records for every student and bed assignment within the residence hall.
Perform computer skillsfor duties, such as completing reports, reviewing Campus ID card access, and reviewing cameras to bookmark events andreport violations
Lock and/or unlock and securetheassigned residence hall at specified times
Conduct room inspectionsand submit maintenance reports accordingly.
Addressany violations of the Code of Student Conduct by documenting the situation and referring the student to the Director ofHousing and Residence Lifeor District Dean of Student Servicesthrougha Campus Appearance Ticket and Incident Report.
Properlycheck outeach residence hall student andsubmitaccuratepaperwork based on each check-out with documented charges
Leadership andAdvocate forStudent Success
Serve as a partner in the student's total development by workingwiththe Advising and Retention Center, StudentCounseling, Testing, andDisability Support Services, Student Activitiesand other offices asneeded.
Facilitate leadership opportunities and support all students in leadershipdevelopment, specifically leadership events sponsored by Residence Life.
Contribute to the development and facilitation of the residential curriculum by creating recruitment and retention programs and initiatives.
Physical Abilities and Work Environment Physical abilities of this positioninclude:
Ability to communicate professionally both orally and in written form
Climb stairs to reach the highest floor of assigned residence hall multiple times throughout the day
Walking (inside and outside in the elements of wind, rain, snow,etc.).ResidenceHall Directorsare required to be able to access all of the residence hall rooms.
Liftingupresidence hall mattresses to inspect for damage and desk chairs to place in appropriately in room
Bending atthe waist and/or knees to open drawers, look under beds, etc.
Arm movement to open closet doors, drawers of chests, and desks, as well as reaching arms above head to reach shelves.
Sitting to view cameras, perform computer work, greet residents, completepaperwork, etc.
Hand movement to type, write, file, and other clerical duties.
Speaking to students, guests, and other college officialsregardingthe policies and processes for students whoresideon-campus, including respectful confrontation
Ability to view a computer screen for 15 – 30 minutes at a time
Residesprimarily in provided housing accommodations while residents areon campus.
Able to work two evening shifts during the weekas well as select weekends as needed and communicatedin advance (or in the event of emergency)by the Director of Housing and Residence Life.Weekend availability is a limited requirement within the Assistant Housing Operations Coordinator/Residence Hall Director role, however, the Asst. Housing Operations Coord./RHD is expected toassistwith emergency related matters, or departmental operationsas they arise in the assigned residence halloron campus.
