Open Gov Africa - (Office of The Citizens)
is a decentralized collaborative platform dedicated to promoting transparency, accountability, and citizen participation across African governments. By leveraging open data, we aim to empower citizens, track government activities, and ensure that public officials are accountable for their actions.
The definition of citizens here is not just limited to office holders. Every citizen is in office via the elected/appointed official(s) who are called to serve the people.
It is pertinent to note that because of the decentralised and open source nature of this project, it will continue till bad governance in Africa is corrected.
To ensure continuity, there will be numerous maintainers to continue the good work of holding leaders accountable.

We are seeking a
proactive, organized, and highly skilled
Copywriter & Storytelling Volunteer who can
transform complex governance & research information
into
clear, engaging,
and
relatable content .
This role is ideal for someone who understands the power of storytelling and can turn data, reports, and policy insights into
simple, interesting, and easy to grasp narratives
that
resonate with audiences . The
right person will know how
to simplify complexity, maintain accuracy, and keep readers engaged from
beginning to end .
You will work within the marketing and communications teams to craft compelling content that helps explain governance issues, highlight insights, and encourage public understanding and engagement.
Key Responsibilities
Translate research findings, governance data, and reports into clear, engaging, and relatable written content.
Write compelling copy for social media, blog posts, newsletters, and campaigns.
Develop storytelling-driven content that keeps audiences engaged and informed.
Create design briefs that guide visual storytelling for graphics and infographics.
Write scripts for short videos, explainers, and digital storytelling content.
Collaborate with designers and marketing team members to align messaging with visuals.
Help maintain a consistent tone and voice across OpenGov Africa’s communications.
Qualifications
Strong copywriting and storytelling skills.
Ability to break down complex topics into simple, understandable language.
Experience writing for digital platforms such as blogs, newsletters, or social media.
Ability to create structured design briefs for visual content.
Experience writing scripts for videos or multimedia content is a strong advantage.
Strong attention to clarity, tone, and audience engagement.
