YOUR ROLE IN THE COMMUNITY The art director has a genuine passion and knowledge of the visual arts. But as a commercial artist, is able to understand a client’s business objectives and has the skills to translate them into creative concepts that excite, inspire and engage.

The ideal candidate has a portfolio that demonstrates strong ideas as well as impeccable design craft. Someone with experience in print (especially environmental), digital/social and branding.

This role is with one of Civic’s largest and long standing accounts, a truly iconic brand. It’s very unusual, high-profile and purposeful work. The Art Director will report directly to the Group Creative Director and will partner with other creative, strategic, account and production personnel to concept and execute a wide range of creative content and experiences across a diversity of media.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

Participating in brainstorm sessions

Coming up with exciting concepts across a wide range of scales, budgets and mediums

Helping present and sell the team’s work both internally and to our clients

Developing and maintaining relationships with clients and third-party consultants to discover client needs and provide solutions

Assisting in preparation for key meetings, including creating and editing presentations and decks

Working with the creative director and across the strategy, account and production teams to establish appropriate directions and development

Collaborating and directing specialist creative and production partners

Generating original visual executions that are both exciting and creatively attractiveDemonstrating a high level of attention to detail and impeccable taste

Developing work of the highest quality once we move into production

Having strong organizational skills to ensure we maintain the most efficient work flows

Creating and managing project timelines

Staying abreast of new media formats and learning how to incorporate them into the work

Working with AI tools throughout the creative process. Contributing to our teams collective knowledge of AI to help us work smarter not harder

Conducting industry and brand specific research

ROLE QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design or related art/design field

Solid understanding of color theory, branding, typography and composition principles

Experience with print (especially environmental - signage, wayfinding, branding), video, digital/social and presentation design

Demonstrated ability to ideate and develop innovative solutions to creative problems

8+ years of design experience in advertising, marketing, digital or branding

2+ years of experience in the event marketing / experiential industry

Exceptional communication, writing and time-management skills

Strong Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office/Google Workspace required.

Candidates should be motivated, enthusiastic, proactive, resourceful, trend-aware, hard working and have the ability to multi-task across multiple projects

Salary commensurate with experience.
