Psychology Community Relations Internship (Filled)
Evening Internship in Community Mental Health | Location: Gaithersburg, MD – In-Person | Hours: Monday–Thursday, 4:30–7:30 PM Kentlands Psychotherapy, a premier boutique mental health practice in the heart of the Kentlands community, is seeking an undergraduate intern to support our communications, research, and outreach efforts. This part‑time position is ideal for a college student studying psychology, public health, communications, or a related field who is looking for meaningful experience in a mental health setting. About the Role
This internship blends administrative support, communications assistance, community engagement, and independent research. Interns serve as a helpful evening presence at our front desk while contributing to both behind‑the‑scenes projects and occasional client‑facing interactions. Responsibilities
Welcoming clients and offering basic support during check‑ins, including helping to schedule follow‑up appointments. Assisting with internal and external communication projects (e.g., blog post drafting, social media research, newsletter content, educational handouts). Conducting research on innovations in mental health practice (e.g., tools like the Alpha Stim & mindfulness training tools like the Muse biofeedback device). Participating in community outreach efforts, such as organizing or staffing events like the Lakelands Boo Bash, our Oktoberfest table, and our Halloween Trick‑or‑Treat at the Shops. Supporting light administrative tasks and contributing to patient engagement and practice visibility. Completing assigned work and/or academic coursework during quieter desk hours. Ideal Candidate
Enrolled in an undergraduate program (Psychology, Public Health, Communications, or a related major) Excellent writing, research, and interpersonal skills Responsible, warm, polished, and professional demeanor Comfortable working independently in a quiet, professional environment Excited to support mental health outreach and education Details
Time Commitment: 12 hours/week, in‑person (Monday–Thursday, 4:30–7:30 PM) Location: Kentlands Psychotherapy, Gaithersburg, MD A modest weekly stipend is provided Flexible semester‑based or ongoing opportunity This internship is educational in nature and intended to provide the intern with a learning opportunity. Intern tasks are supplemental, supervised, and structured to support learning rather than fulfill duties otherwise performed by employees.
