We are currently seeking a Visual Merchandising Designer to join our team based out of our Fairfield, NJ headquarters. This role follows a hybrid schedule, with three days per week onsite and the remaining days working remotely. Standard hours are 8:30am to 5:30pm.
About the role: The Visual Merchandising Designer plays a key role in shaping the look, feel, and experience of Phillip Jeffries showrooms and brand environments. This position combines creative design, hands‑on execution, and thoughtful project management. You will help bring our collections to life through visual storytelling while ensuring consistency, quality, and alignment with the brand across all spaces.
This role also includes leadership responsibilities and close collaboration with cross‑functional partners across Design, Marketing, Sales, and Operations.
What You Will Be Doing: Innovative Display Design
Design and execute elevated visual displays that support showroom storytelling and sales
Create and refresh:
Showroom props
Window box displays
Secondary displays, including pegboard
Florals and seasonal styling
Showroom vignettes and product selections
Ensure all displays align with brand standards and enhance the client experience
Tradeshows, Pop‑Ups, and Events
Support the design and execution of:
Tradeshows
Pop‑up showrooms
Internal and client‑facing events
Product launches and campaign moments
Partner with internal teams to ensure a cohesive visual message across all activations
Planograms and Merchandising Systems
Create and maintain planograms and display guidelines that scale across showrooms
Support Master Collection Rotation and Master Item Rotation (planned to be removed; date to be determined)
Support Showroom Sales Tools Production and Fulfillment (planned to be removed by the end of 2025)
Project Management and Execution
Own projects from concept through installation
Build and manage project plans, timelines, and budgets
Allocate resources effectively across multiple priorities
Identify risks early and communicate challenges with clear, thoughtful solutions
Source, onboard, and oversee wallcovering installers for wings and vignettes
Train showroom staff on new installations, standards, and ongoing maintenance
Showroom Experience and Collaboration
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams on launch and campaign development
Research visual merchandising trends and regional sales insights
Maintain visual standards and conduct audits to ensure consistency and quality across installations
Leadership Responsibilities
Provide day‑to‑day guidance and direction to junior team members
Assign tasks, monitor progress, and ensure deadlines are met
Support skill development through coaching and constructive feedback
Help junior staff navigate shifting priorities and obstacles
Conduct one‑to‑one meetings and participate in formal performance reviews
What You Bring Experience and Education
Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Merchandising, or a related field
4‑6 years of experience in visual merchandising or store design, ideally within luxury or premium retail
A strong portfolio showcasing creative display work and showroom execution
Understanding of retail, sales, and marketing strategies within the luxury design space
Ability to travel for projects approximately three days per month
Skills
Strong visual storytelling and spatial design skills
Confident use of color theory and product placement
Knowledge of wallcovering installation and related calculations
Project planning, timeline tracking, and risk management
Experience leading one to two direct reports
Clear communicator who raises challenges alongside solutions
Ability to prioritize, multitask, and stay organized under deadlines
Creative problem solver who adapts easily in a fast‑paced environment
Systems and Tools
Design software: Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop), SketchUp, CAD
Office tools: Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams
Project tools: Wrike and budget tracking tools

Compensation Benefits:
Competitive annual salary ranging from $70,000 – $80,000, based on your experience.
