
Regional Business Development Manager

General Area of Responsibility
The position of Regional Business Development Manager is primarily responsible for establishing, supporting, and managing customer relationships throughout the Americas region, gathering market intelligence, and laying the groundwork for developing new customers and markets. The Regional Business Development Manager will contribute to the goals of the commercial function, providing in-depth analytical support, leading the preparation of business cases for new opportunities, preparing sales material, structuring agreements, and other ad-hoc support to business development and commercial activity.
Specific Area Of Responsibility
Creating and developing commercial opportunities through managing relationships with new and existing clients, partners, and other stakeholders
Identify new market opportunities as part of Svitzer Americas Growth Strategy in Latin America.
Develop attractive customer proposals for customers and lead projects of various complexity, in close cooperation with the Operational and Marine departments.
Project lead responsibility for new business opportunities, including writing business case memos that will generate internal stakeholder engagement with the end goal of attaining executive approval for project investments.
Drive and ensure strong alignment between internal stakeholders in countries, regional functions, and headquarters.
Support the development of business cases and financial models for use in all commercial efforts.
Provide market intelligence to management.
Lead Commercial Tenders and ad hoc business opportunities.
Required/Preferred Education
Relevant University Degree (e.g. Master’s in business administration)
Training And Competencies
5-10 years of experience in the maritime industry
Experience within towage, offshore industry or similar
Fluency in both written and spoken English and Spanish. Portuguese is an advantage.
Strong knowledge of the Latin American market is highly desirable; experience in towage operations and the ports and terminals sector will be considered a significant advantage.
A proven track record of managing tenders for maritime services
Excellent external stakeholder management skills
Experience working in a commercial environment and familiar with modern marketing, sales, processes, and business development techniques
Experience working closely with senior management and managing internal stakeholders across functions, with an understanding of operations and finance in the maritime industry
High energy level with a proactive and open approach to challenges
Good leadership and excellent interpersonal skills, team player and self‑starter with a highly motivated attitude to grow the business through long‑term relationships
Thrives in a busy work environment and is motivated by the international scope of our business
Excellent business communication skills for both external and internal audiences.
Ability to work in a global business environment with a strong sense of cultural diversity
Flexibility to travel 25-40%, developing new business or expanding existing business
