Commercial Construction Superintendent - Lead Complex Projects & Drive Excellence
We are seeking an experienced
Commercial Construction Superintendent
to lead our field operations and oversee the successful delivery of high-profile commercial construction projects. In this critical leadership role, you will take command of all on-site activities, manage project schedules and budgets, coordinate subcontractors and trades, and ensure every project meets the highest standards of quality, safety, and client satisfaction. Key Responsibilities
Direct and supervise all daily field operations for commercial construction projects including healthcare, pharmaceutical, educational, and institutional facilities
Manage and coordinate subcontractors, trade partners, and on-site construction teams to ensure seamless project execution
Develop and maintain project schedules, ensuring all milestones and deadlines are achieved
Monitor and control project budgets, labor costs, and resource allocation to maximize efficiency and profitability
Enforce strict safety protocols and OSHA compliance standards to maintain accident-free jobsites
Conduct regular quality control inspections and ensure all work meets specifications and building codes
Serve as primary on-site point of contact for clients, architects, engineers, and project stakeholders
Review and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and specifications with emphasis on MEP systems
Manage material procurement, equipment logistics, and site logistics planning
Lead project meetings, prepare progress reports, and maintain comprehensive project documentation
Resolve field issues promptly and implement effective solutions to keep projects on track
Mentor and develop field staff, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and field experience
Minimum 8 years of progressive experience managing commercial construction projects in a field superintendent capacity
Demonstrated track record of successfully supervising large-scale commercial construction projects from pre-construction through closeout
Strong technical knowledge of MEP systems (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) and their integration in commercial buildings
Proven experience with healthcare facilities, pharmaceutical projects, higher education campuses, or K-12 educational facilities strongly preferred
Exceptional leadership abilities with proven success managing diverse teams and driving performance
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with all project stakeholders
Strong aptitude for budget management, cost control, and financial project tracking
Proficiency in construction management software, scheduling tools (Procore, MS Project, Primavera), and Microsoft Office Suite
Thorough understanding of OSHA safety regulations, building codes, and quality standards
Valid driver's license and willingness to travel regularly within Illinois, Indiana, and surrounding Midwest states
OSHA 30-Hour certification preferred
