We are seeking a
Bilingual Home Visitor / Parent Educator
who will provide early childhood development and parent education through home visiting within the Early Childhood Program. You will work on a team that uses the Principles of Family Support Practice to enhance the development of children and families in the program.
Important notes:
This is a full-time exempt position and may require local travel, dependable transportation, a valid Driver’s License, and auto insurance.
Responsibilities
Provide home visiting, early childhood development, and parent education to families and their children in the Early Childhood Program.
Collaborate with a team to apply the Principles of Family Support Practice to support child and family development.
Attend and participate in all required meetings, conferences, and in-service trainings as specified by Family Focus.
Conduct family assessments to determine needs for case management and referrals, as well as the development of an IFSP (Individualized Family Service Plan).
Conduct developmental screenings, provide home-based and center-based services, and advocate for families to reach identified goals.
Support parents in identifying tools and skills to foster their child’s healthy development; assist with updating immunizations, status checks, and family planning information as needed.
Travel locally to carry out caseload responsibilities and participate in special events as scheduled (may include Saturdays).
Qualifications
Preferred Bachelor of Arts degree (B.A.) in Human Services, Early Childhood Education, or related field.
Experience in child development, early childhood education, social work, or related field.
Gateways Credential
Demonstrated ability to communicate verbally and in writing in English and Spanish.
Experience providing home-based services including parent/child interaction activities to Migrant families.
Follows Parents as Teachers model guidelines along with additional requirements from the funding partner.
Knowledge and understanding of the Latino community in Chicago and surrounding areas.
Must have dependable transportation, a valid Driver’s License, and auto insurance to support the caseload.
Attends and participates in all meetings, conferences, and in-service trainings required by Family Focus.
