Role Overview To be considered, candidates must provide a link to their portfolio of video work in their application. The Editor / Producer is responsible for producing and editing high‑quality video content that supports San Diego FC’s football storytelling, brand initiatives, and business objectives across platforms. This role combines strong editorial instincts with advanced post‑production expertise to create compelling long‑form, short‑form, and promotional content for the club’s official channels. Working under the direction of the Video Production Manager, the Editor / Producer develops original content through editing and selective on‑site production support, shaping club storylines into clear, engaging narratives tailored for digital‑first audiences. This role also contributes to scalable post‑production systems, including motion graphics development and digital advertising best practices, ensuring efficiency and brand consistency across all video outputs. Core Responsibilities Video Editing & Storytelling Produce and edit a variety of San Diego FC storylines, shaping narratives to best engage club audiences Manage the storytelling behind each creative output to ensure clarity, concision, and alignment with digital platform standards Edit both long‑form and short‑form content for digital platforms, with flexibility for broader distribution when required Conceptualize and execute story‑focused video edits for distribution across official SDFC platforms Develop new and unique content initiatives through innovative post‑production techniques Match‑Day & Production Support Manage media intake and edit select highlights and creative pieces on matchdays Provide editing support at home and away matches as assigned Support the broader production team during live events and time‑sensitive projects Motion Graphics, Templates & Paid Media Optimization Develop and maintain motion graphics systems and editing templates that improve workflow efficiency and maintain brand consistency Lead the development of scalable motion graphics and editing templates for digital advertising, implementing platform‑specific best practices to support performance optimization and efficient versioning across paid campaigns Apply established post‑production standards to ensure all deliverables meet technical specifications and platform requirements Contribute to evolving best practices across the video team to maintain high creative and technical standards Work at the direction of the Video Production Manager to apply editorial notes and revise video assets Collaborate with members of the Content & Creative team on ideation and execution of projects Work independently on assigned projects while partnering with teammates on larger initiatives Project & Process Management Maintain established post‑production workflows and contribute to ongoing process improvements Commit to consistent asset organization and proactive management of the club’s growing media library Ensure proper media intake, file naming, storage, and archive practices Remain organized and adaptable in a fast‑paced production environment Cross‑Functional Collaboration Partner with cross‑functional teams across the club to support video content needs aligned with brand and football priorities Coordinate with Football Operations and Communications for access and scheduling as needed Support marketing campaigns and partnership activations through integrated video execution Team Development Contribute to a collaborative, accountable, and high‑performing creative culture Stay current on trends, tools, and best practices in editing, motion graphics, and digital storytelling Share knowledge and creative insight with team members to elevate overall output Required Skills Expert knowledge of Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, and DaVinci Resolve Proficiency with the wider Adobe Creative Suite Strong motion graphics fundamentals and template‑building capability Proficiency in audio mixing/mastering and color correction/grading Ability to take complex stories and concisely tell them to fans Knowledge of media management systems to grow, maintain, and organize SDFC’s media library Experience in digital / social editing as well as more traditional channels Ability to piece together stories in post‑production Sports experience is a plus Passion for editing and great attention to detail and strong organization skills Understanding of digital advertising specifications and platform formatting standards Knowledge of cine cameras and field production workflows is a plus Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills Ability to work productively in a fast‑paced environment under tight deadlines Strong communication and collaboration skills Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays 3+ years of experience in a video editing role, preferably in sports Portfolio demonstrating creativity, originality, and technical excellence APPLY: We encourage all qualified individuals who share our commitment to community and soccer to apply.
