Job Description Description
The API Engineer will be responsible for teaching teams to utilize our new suite of API development tools, including Apigee, NPM and Jenkins. The API Engagement Engineer will provide architectural guidance for API application development across teams, helping teams understand how to leverage the API Gateway to their benefit and promote best practices for Microservice/SOA application development. The API Engagement Engineer will be the source of knowledge for RESTful API development, promote REST best practices, and help teams productize APIs for wide market consumption. The ideal candidate may be an API developer or architect seeking to expand responsibilities to leading technologists.
API engineers must possess strong oral and written communication skills because they collaborate and consult with other engineers as well as organizational experts in various fields across the organization.
Day to day
The Engagement Engineer will work with Application Service development teams across the organization, managing multiple teams concurrently. They will provide best practices for REST API development and deliver solutions for highly complex multiservice application implementations.
Skills Capable of working in Java, Spring, and NodeJS
API Specification Design in JSON and YAML
API development in an enterprise setting
Strong attention to detail and a keen eye for aesthetics
Requirements Excellent communication skills with both technical and business stakeholders
A technical background with REST API development experience
Working knowledge of API Gateways and their role in the enterprise
Architectural knowledge of application development in a Microservice/EDA environment
DevOps process fundamentals
Advocate for technology best practices
