We are seeking a Graphic Designer II who will be part of a creative team responsible for creating impactful design solutions from concept to completion that effectively communicate the organization's brand and its programs. The Graphic Designer II designs and produces a wide variety of materials and may support a Sr. Graphic Designer in selecting the appropriate media and style to meet the strategic and tactical goals of each design project/marketing communications initiative. This position will support brand identity design and manage template creation. The designer will meet with project partners and vendors to identify project needs and printing and production considerations.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
Understand and align work with the Johns Hopkins University Brand Standards and the Brand Identity Guidelines for the assigned area.
Create multiple creative concepts for consideration on in-house materials.
Maintain templated branded material for ease-of-use by partners.
Present concepts and design solutions to managers and partners in collaboration with a senior designer.
Distill feedback and manage relationships with collaborators throughout the design process.
Stay current on the latest trends and technology in graphic and digital design.
Support Work
Support planning and execution of design projects from start to completion.
Propose solutions for a variety of communications across all channels including print, email, social, web, plasma screen displays, and event promotions, from small-scale items to larger-scale projects.
Collaborate in brainstorming solutions for marketing needs for internal partners.
Work collaboratively with the creative team to ensure creativity and continuity across materials.
Archive design work.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in fine arts, graphic design, or related field.
Two years of related experience and a portfolio.
Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond a high school diploma/graduation equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Preferred Qualifications
Website design experience.
DSLR photography experience.
Proficiency in Project Management Software (Smartsheet).
Technical Qualifications or Specialized Certifications
Experience in using Adobe Creative Suite (specifically Adobe Indesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop), and Microsoft Office, including Microsoft PowerPoint.
Experience in use of Canva and Lucidpress.
Experience with an email marketing platform (Mailchimp, Staffbase, etc.)
Video production knowledge preferred including After Effects and Adobe Premiere technical skills.
