Position Summary Under the general direction and supervision of the Administrative Director, Admissions and the Dean of Students/Assistant Campus Director, Beatrice Campus, the Admissions Representative is responsible for providing prospective students with necessary information to make informed choices about careers and College programs of study, guiding students toward choosing Southeast Community College, providing information and assistance as needed in other areas of Enrollment and Student Affairs, and presenting a positive public image of the College. The person must also work with aggregate data to discern demographic and occupational trends and help develop effective recruitment strategies that consider these trends. Computer skills are essential; experience with college recruiting/admissions software and technology is preferred. This is a full‑time, regular position.

Essential Functions Pre‑Admission Advising

Provide pre‑admissions assistance, advising, and career/vocational advising to prospective students.

Respond to individual and group inquiries from prospective students and schedule and lead campus tours, ensuring that guests receive a positive and informative experience.

High School Visits

Schedule visits to high schools in the SCC service area as well as across Nebraska and neighboring states as requested.

Work closely with high school counselors and instructors and visit career, vocational, and other classes as necessary.

Ability to Analyze Admissions Data and Trends

Run and analyze aggregate data reports showing numbers of students contacted, types of contacts, fields of interest, and barriers to admission.

Develop strategies to effectively communicate with and recruit those student prospects.

Schedule and Conduct Tours

Schedule individual and group career counseling/information sessions.

Encourage campus tours during high school visits, arrange and conduct college tours, and/or supervise student ambassadors in the provision of tours.

College and Career Fairs

Attend college and career fairs as scheduled in cooperation with the Administrative Director, Admissions, and other Admissions team members.

Speaking Engagements

Present information about Southeast Community College to civic groups, community agencies, high school classes, and other appropriate events (e.g., fairs, etc.).

Recruitment Activities

Coordinate, attend, and participate in on‑ and off‑campus recruitment activities, for example, Discovery Days, Career Fairs, educational planning programs, Counselor Visit Days, etc. Coordinate with Program and Student Affairs staff.

Travel

Required to travel to various locations across the state for school visits, conferences, and educational planning sessions.

Committee Membership

Attend department, program, and College meetings and serve on committees.

Attend program/college staff meetings as directed and serve on assigned teams.

Promote a Culture of Belonging Support and promote an environment of belonging where all students, faculty members, and college employees feel welcomed, valued, and empowered to contribute. Foster a community where each individual and their varied perspectives enrich the educational experience and create a safe and respectful environment. Support the College’s policies and programming related to access, fair employment, and equal opportunities for all.

Marginal Functions

Assist the Administrative Director, Admissions, and Dean of Students/Assistant Campus Director, Beatrice Campus.

Assist with the development of College publications such as marketing/recruiting materials, the viewbook, and special brochures.

Assist with New Student Enrollment, New Student Welcome, New Student Orientation, Welcome Weeks, move‑in, and other Enrollment and Student Affairs programming and events.

Assist with the training of staff, student ambassadors, and part‑time employees.

Maintain inventory of marketing materials such as program flyers, brochures, etc.

Participate in professional associations related to admissions.

May be required to perform associated duties, functions, or assignments in other divisions/programs/areas as required.

Perform other College functions and duties as assigned.

Must be able to work varied days, hours, shifts, locations, and campuses as required. Work schedules (hours/days/work location) are scheduled by Southeast Community College based on the needs of the College. Work hours, shifts, days, and work locations may vary depending on the needs of Southeast Community College and are subject to modification. Emergency or scheduled special activities may require hours outside of the regular workweek.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Excellent communication skills and the ability to present and promote Southeast Community College to prospective students, high school staff, and community members.

Skills and abilities necessary to promote and maintain a positive environment and level of service for all those who interact with the Admissions unit, including students, faculty, and staff.

Knowledge of and experience in recruiting students, including those from diverse backgrounds.

Ability to organize and plan recruiting schedules.

Knowledge of recruitment markets.

Knowledge and experience in college admissions or student personnel services.

Knowledge of admissions, practices, procedures, standards, and legal requirements.

Knowledge and experience with computers, data entry, software, and technology.

Ability and experience with spreadsheets and databases.

Ability to create, understand, and interpret graphs and charts.

Ability to meet travel requirements of position, which may include considerable location and regional travel, varied days and hours, etc.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Employees must be able to perform the following physical requirements with or without reasonable accommodations:

Work at a desk for extended periods, continuously 2–4 hours and up to 8 hours.

Present for extended periods, continuously, 2–4 hours and up to 8 hours.

Provide tours for up to 1.5 hours while listening and talking. Surfaces may include cement, grass, rock, or dirt, and can be flat or include various degrees of incline.

Ability to operate a computer, computer mouse, keyboard, phone, and other office equipment continuously.

Lift and carry up to 30 pounds.

Climb stairs; climb stairs carrying up to 30 pounds; climb stairs while talking.

Bend, kneel, stoop, and squat to floor level regularly.

Reach with hands and arms above the head, in front of the body, and below knee level.

Provide tours outside in a variety of weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, snow, and wind.

Ability to get in and out of, ride in, and drive a College‑owned vehicle regularly up to 500 miles.

Ability to travel overnight for up to five consecutive days.

The individual must possess the above skills and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that the individual can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in communication, marketing, education, or a directly related field, or Associate’s degree

PLUS

4 years of related work experience.

Two (2) years of work experience in college recruiting, enrollment, advising, or other College student services field*, or in marketing, sales, customer service, or a directly related field.

Proof of a valid driver’s license to operate a motor vehicle and insurability to operate a motor vehicle.

*College Student Services is defined as: Admissions, Recruitment, Testing, Financial Aid, Counseling, Placement, Assessment, Career and/or Academic Advising, Retention, or Registration. *A Master’s degree may be substituted for one (1) year of the required two (2) years of work experience.

Desired Qualifications

Master’s degree in educational administration, business administration, or a related field.

Recruiting experience at the post‑secondary level.

Salary $49,837 per year

Benefits SCC BEN Dollars

– Eligible Employees: Full‑time status. Regular employees with an FTE of 0.75 or greater will be eligible for SCC Ben Dollars. All employees will be required to elect a health insurance option. If the cost of insurance coverage selected by an employee exceeds the SCC Ben Dollars available, all additional costs will be withheld from the employee’s paycheck. Any SCC Ben Dollars that the employee does not elect to use for the purchase of dependent health and dental insurance will be paid to the employee in cash at $0.93 per $1.00 benefit dollar. All amounts paid are subject to withholding for income and employment taxes, but not subject to the College’s contribution toward the Retirement Savings Plan – Group Retirement Account (GRA). Schedule Normal work hours for this position are scheduled by the College between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, requiring a minimum of a 40‑hour workweek. Special projects, campus events, assignments, and periodic increases in workload may require an increase in work hours on evenings or weekends. This is a full‑time regular position based on a 260‑day work calendar.
