Overview
First Congregational Church (UCC) of St. Joseph, Michigan is seeking a qualified candidate (¾ time with full‑time potential) to lead our Family and Youth Ministry for ages PreK – 12th grade. This person would lead the mentoring and ministering to the youth, education for young children, partnering with families in participating in our Christian Education ministry and show all how to identify mission and volunteer opportunities throughout the congregation and community.
Responsibilities
Collaborative communication and cooperation with Minister and Office Manager
Christian Education for ages PreK – 12th grade
Research best curriculum or develop own for current needs of congregation
Recruit and train teachers / assistants for nursery and elementary ages
Lead Sunday School and other Discipleship events as needed
Ensure supplies and rooms are well stocked and organized
Meet with agencies to find mission opportunities for youth and family
Partner with Minister in leading / overseeing Confirmation
Develop curriculum, work and train co‑teachers and prayer partners
Organize youth involvement in church activities
Plan and implement special projects for the congregation involving families
Lead week‑long Vacation Bible School
Plan and organize Children’s Christmas Program
Oversee Acolyte schedule and training
Participate in monthly Christian Education Board meetings
Meetings with area Youth Ministers, Christian Education Directors to share best practices as needed or partner to create community ministries
Compensation
$50,000-60,000 starting salary (based on experience / qualifications)
Paid vacation / time off (2 weeks beginning after 90‑day review)
Paid family leave / sick leave
Continuing education / training allowance
Moving expenses / background check covered
