Overview:

CAM Industrial Solutions, a leader in industrial services and one of the fastest-growing privately held companies in Canada and the United States, is seeking an Apprentice Sheet Metal Worker to support semiconductor and clean manufacturing projects.

We are looking for motivated apprentices who are eager to learn the trade, work safely in ultra-clean environments, and develop their skills under experienced Journeypersons and Foremen.

The Apprentice Sheet Metal Worker assists in the fabrication, installation, modification, and repair of sheet metal systems used in commercial, industrial, and clean manufacturing environments. Working under the direct supervision of a Journeyman Sheet Metal Worker or Foreman, this role supports HVAC ductwork, exhaust systems, specialty sheet metal components, and mechanical systems while learning industry best practices, safety procedures, and installation techniques. This position is classified under applicable prevailing wage requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist with fabrication and installation of sheet metal ductwork, fittings, exhaust systems, and specialty components.

Support layout, measuring, cutting, bending, and assembling sheet metal using hand tools and power tools.

Assist with installation of HVAC duct systems, dampers, louvers, access doors, and structural supports.

Help perform field modifications, adjustments, and system tie-ins as directed by the Journeyman or Foreman.

Safely use hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment such as brakes, shears, rollers, and drills.

Assist with material handling, staging of equipment, and work area setup.

Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean, organized, and safe condition.

Learn to read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and project specifications.

Assist with layout and measurement verification to ensure proper fit and alignment of sheet metal systems.

Follow approved isometrics, construction drawings, and Foreman instructions.

Follow all project safety requirements including OSHA regulations, PPE use, fall protection, and site-specific rules.

Participate in daily Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), toolbox talks, and safety meetings.

Identify and report unsafe conditions, damaged equipment, or potential hazards to supervision.

Perform work consistent with apprentice skill level and classification.

Complete required apprenticeship classroom instruction and on-the-job training hours.

Learn industry standards, installation best practices, and quality control procedures.

Qualifications:

Enrollment in or acceptance to a recognized Sheet Metal Workers Apprenticeship Program.

Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn sheet metal fabrication and installation techniques.

Ability to follow instructions and work effectively in a team environment.

Ability to meet project access requirements, including background checks and drug screening.

Previous construction or mechanical experience is considered an asset.

Familiarity with sheet metal tools and basic fabrication techniques is preferred.

Exposure to HVAC systems, industrial exhaust, or cleanroom environments is beneficial.

Working Conditions:

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Ability to stand, bend, kneel, climb ladders, and perform overhead work.

Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and on lifts or scaffolding.

Ability to wear required PPE and cleanroom gowning for extended periods.

Work may be performed in cleanrooms, sub-fab areas, industrial facilities, and fabrication shops.
