Financial Aid Advisor
The Blinn College District is searching for a Financial Aid Advisor at our Bryan Campus. Primary Duties and Responsibilities are listed below:
Job Summary Processing and assisting students and parents across the Blinn College District on applying for and receiving financial aid, scholarships, and veteran educational benefits. Processing all consortium agreements, and primary financial aid contact with Texas A&M for the TEAM and Brenham Engineering Academy. Awards and manages the Texas Equal Opportunity Grant. Process all areas of financial aid from answering the phones to awarding students, completing reports, and performing professional judgments. Position double checks all verification corrections and works with students with unique situations that could affect their financial aid.
Principal Accountabilities
Process all consortium agreement requirements for Blinn College with other institutions and works as the main contact for students and partnering schools as the primary financial aid contact. This includes but is not limited to schools within the Texas A&M System Alliance, Texas A&M, TEAM, Brenham Engineering Academy, and other schools.
Award and manage the Texas Equal Opportunity Grant (TEOG). Ensuring all allocated funds are awarded and disbursed according to Texas Higher Education regulations.
Providing customer services and advising students and parents on navigating the process to apply for and receive Financial Aid/Scholarship/Veteran Educational Benefits. This is accomplished in person, via email, and over the phone.
Reviews all requests for income adjustments and dependency overrides. Works with the student/parents to gather additional documentation to substantiate the request. Makes a decision based on the documentation whether an adjustment can be made and is justifiable and performs any necessary calculations to complete the decision. Reviews Financial Aid Satisfactory Academic Appeals.
Processing financial aid, scholarships, and veteran educational benefits. Ensuring that quality of work and accuracy contribute to compliance with all federal, state, and institutional regulations and policies. This includes processing various exception reports that are part of the financial aid process.
Provide community outreach presentations about financial aid to various groups. Provides direct service to students and parents with regard to all aspects of financial aid through various avenues of communication (phones, email, in person, chat, and text).
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications/ Required Degree, License or Certifications Bachelor's Degree
Minimum Competencies
Ability to communicate clearly and thoroughly with people of various backgrounds and experiences in such a way that they feel comfortable and willing to work well together.
Strong problem solving skills to analyze situations and experiences.
Self-motivated and goal oriented, team player.
Ability to handle numerous complex and routine tasks simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications
Financial Aid experience at an institution of higher education and have knowledge of U.S. Department of Education and regulations, Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board regulations for financial aid programs.
Experience with Banner or Ellucian products.
Preferred Competencies
Experience using Office products (Word, Excel). Using formulas and pivot tables.
Be knowledgeable of Veteran Administration and state of Texas educational benefits for veterans and veteran dependents.

Blinn College pays 100% of health insurance for full‑time employees, 50% for dependents, and two times your annual salary in life insurance benefits.
