**Overview**
Oversees the day‑to‑day operations and implementation of research, education, and outreach activities within the Swine Research and Education Center. Provides leadership in facility management, research coordination, student training, and stakeholder engagement to support the Center's mission.
**Responsibilities**
+ Manages and implements proper animal care, handling, and welfare practices consistent with university and industry standards, including Pork Quality Assurance Plus (PQA), for the Swine Research and Education Center.
+ Procures equipment, feed, supplies, and materials necessary to sustain research, teaching, and Extension activities at the unit.
+ Oversees and supports IACUC compliance, biosecurity, and facility management protocols.
+ Generates, manages, and maintains animal management data and operational records.
+ Supervises machinery and equipment operation, maintenance, and repair within the unit.
+ Provides hands‑on training, supervision, and mentorship for undergraduate and graduate students working at the facility.
+ Engages actively in student education, including experiential learning opportunities.
+ Interacts with faculty, staff, students, visitors, and external stakeholders through tours, seminars, presentations, and educational activities.
+ Communicates effectively with diverse audiences to support outreach and stakeholder engagement.
+ Demonstrates commitment to education, student development, and animal stewardship.
**Qualifications**
+ Bachelor's degree in Animal Sciences, Agriculture, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
+ 5 years of experience in agricultural operations and/or agricultural research with progressively increasing responsibility.
**Desired Qualifications:**
+ Demonstrated passion for education, mentorship, and animal stewardship.
+ Familiarity with swine husbandry, Pork Quality Assurance (PQA) principles, and best practices in animal handling and care.
