**Overview**
The VP for Enrollment Management is hiring a **Financial Aid & Scholarships Counselor I/II/III** to provide front-line support and routine advising to students and families on financial aid and scholarship opportunities and processes. This role also supports outreach efforts, including orientations, recruitment events, and financial aid workshops.
The position focuses on delivering excellent customer service by providing accurate information, referring more complex issues to senior staff, and maintaining documentation in compliance with federal, state, and university policies.
**Responsibilities**
+ Provide direct, scheduled advising to students and families on financial aid and scholarship opportunities, application processes, eligibility requirements, award adjustments, renewal criteria, educational costs, and funding options. Ensure awareness of the various financial aid sources during counseling sessions by providing individualized information and answering their questions regarding financial aid sources.
+ Interpret and apply federal, state, and institutional policies to counsel students on aid eligibility, verification, and satisfactory academic progress requirements, while supporting students in resolving routine issues by evaluating documentation and developing recommendations within established guidelines.
+ Serve as part of a team that provides general ad-hoc support regarding financial aid and scholarship opportunities, application processes, eligibility requirements, award adjustments, renewal criteria, educational costs, and funding options to students and families via in-person, phone, and virtual interactions.
+ Represent the office at orientations, recruitment events, financial aid workshops, and high school presentations by delivering presentations to prospective and current students, parents, families, and counselors.
+ Serve as an active member of financial aid and scholarship-related committees, including scholarship selection, satisfactory academic progress (SAP) appeals review, and professional judgment reviews. Exercise independent discretion in making recommendations to leadership regarding student eligibility and appeal outcomes based on regulatory guidance and professional judgment.
+ Maintain competency and professional currency by engaging in self-directed reading, establishing professional contacts with colleagues, and participating in professional training and courses.
+ Ensure the accurate documentation of student interactions in adherence to FERPA regulations and internal policies.
+ Perform reviews and audits of work completed by oneself to ensure accuracy and compliance, and recommend changes based on workflow and productivity concerns.
**Qualifications**
Level I:
+ Bachelor's degree-no specific discipline
Level II:
+ Bachelor's degree-no specific discipline
+ 2 years of experience in financial aid, scholarships, advising and/or coaching students, student recruitment, accounting, banking or finance, enrollment services, or financial services.
Level III:
+ Bachelor's degree-no specific discipline
+ 4 years of experience in financial aid, scholarships, advising and/or coaching students, student recruitment, accounting, banking or finance, enrollment services, or financial services.
**Desired Qualifications** :
+ Experience with Banner, Slate, and/or scholarship management systems (e.g., AcademicWorks or Blackbaud Award Management).
+ Prior experience serving on scholarship, appeals, or professional judgment committees.
