We are partnered with a leading national distributor and employee-owned company seeking a driven Credit Specialist to join their Accounts Receivable team. This is a contract-to-hire role with an excellent benefits package upon conversion. As a Credit Specialist, you will manage a portfolio of B2B customer accounts — ranging from small independent businesses to larger retail locations. You'll be responsible for outreach and follow-up on past-due accounts, maintaining detailed records of customer interactions, and escalating credit analysis findings to the Credit Manager. You'll work closely with a small, cohesive team that includes a Credit Assistant, four Credit Specialists, and a Credit Manager. Key Responsibilities

Manage an assigned portfolio of B2B customer accounts; prioritize outreach on 30–60 day past-due balances Perform credit analysis and present findings and recommendations to the Credit Manager Log all customer communications and follow-up notes using internal proprietary tools Maintain data integrity and produce reports using Excel Communicate professionally with a diverse customer base — adapting tone and approach based on account type Partner closely with the Credit Manager throughout the day; participate in side-by-side coaching when needed Operate with a high degree of accuracy while maintaining a timely response cadence Required Qualifications

Minimum 1 year of B2B collections or accounts receivable experience (consumer collections experience not a fit for this role) Proficiency in Excel for reporting purposes Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to adapt communication style to varied customer profiles Self-sufficient, detail-oriented, and receptive to direction and process-driven workflows Comfortable in a structured, hands-on management environment with frequent check-ins Demonstrated ability to follow established processes and procedures — willing to learn and do things the company's way Preferred Qualifications

Background in distribution, wholesale, manufacturing, or another regulated industry Experience at a privately held or employee-owned company Light exposure to credit analysis or credit decision support Comfortable learning legacy/proprietary software systems (training provided)
