Natural Systems Design (NSD) is a Pacific Northwest firm of geomorphologists, hydrologists, engineers, fisheries biologists, landscape architects, and ecologists created to make a positive contribution to the natural world. Our interdisciplinary team of 60 professionals collaborates on river, estuary, and coastal restoration to enhance ecological resilience and community wellbeing.
Position Summary
The Marketing Manager plays a hands‑on role in driving NSD’s marketing and proposal operations. Approximately 70% of this role is direct execution—writing, editing, producing, organizing—and the remaining 30% focuses on team coordination and oversight. This role leads internal marketing efforts, coordinates business development activities, and owns the systems, content, and tools that support our proposals and brand presence.

Key Responsibilities
Proposal Management & Marketing Operations
Lead the end‑to‑end development and submission of ~6–8 proposals/SOQs per month, including writing, editing, and formatting.
Coordinate Go/No‑Go decisions, proposal schedules, and responsibilities to maintain clarity and accountability.
Maintain and improve NSD’s CRM (VantagePoint) and core content libraries (resumes, project descriptions, templates).
Ensure brand, formatting, and content consistency across all external‑facing materials.
Step in to directly produce or edit proposal content during peak volume or when timelines are tight.
Content, Systems, and Process Management
Build and maintain organized, accessible systems for content reuse, version control, and file structure.
Administer templates and workflows for proposals, project sheets, resumes, and other marketing assets.
Track and report on BD and marketing KPIs using CRM and other internal tools.
Lead post‑submission debriefs and document lessons learned to improve future performance.
Team Leadership & Coordination
Supervise and mentor the Proposal Coordinator; coordinate work assignments, status tracking, and deadlines.
Communicate clearly with technical staff and project managers to gather inputs and reduce last‑minute delays.
External Communications & Events
Serve as point of contact for brand standards and outbound marketing materials.
Coordinate logistics and branded materials for conferences, events, and public engagements.
Provide light support for social media and other external‑facing content.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, journalism, communications, or related field.
7–10 years of experience in AEC, environmental consulting, or similar technical services.
Proven experience managing proposals and directly producing high‑quality proposal content.
Strong writing, editing, formatting, and organizational skills.
Familiarity with CRM systems (VantagePoint preferred), SharePoint, and version control.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign in particular).
Experience mentoring or coordinating junior staff or contractors.

Proposals and qualifications are consistently on time, well‑organized, and require minimal revisions.
Internal libraries (resumes, projects, templates) are easy to find, current, and maintained.
Technical staff feel supported, not burdened, by the proposal process.
Workflows are followed consistently, and staff know what to expect.
Marketing priorities and deadlines are clearly communicated and managed.
Position Location
Seattle, Bellingham, or Port Angeles, Washington. NSD operates a hybrid model; preferred candidate is located near one of our three office locations.
Compensation
NSD offers competitive salary and benefits, including up to a 4% match on 401(K), 8 paid days off, and a generous tiered paid time off policy. Wage ranges are negotiated based on the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and sector knowledge. Salary: $120,000–145,000 DOE.
Hours
Staff have flexibility to manage when they come into the office and when they work from home. Some variable travel to project sites and office locations is expected. Additional hours beyond 40 hours are compensated at a 1.5× hourly rate.
