What You’ll Do:

Provides support to Materials Manager in all areas.

Responsible for purchasing raw materials in a repetitive just-in-time manufacturing environment as required by the Materials Manager.

Assist in purchasing raw materials and ensuring expeditious arrival.

Assist in controlling inventory and maintaining records.

Assist in implementing cycle count systems to ensure inventory accuracy.

Assist in reducing excess inventory, slow-moving and obsolete material.

Ensure that the necessary material is in-house to meet customer demands.

Work with corporate purchasing and other Simmons plants to move and acquire material on a timely and cost-effective fashion.

Communicate promptly about any delay, change, or other concern that impacts shop‑floor orders.

Develop policies that ensure timely delivery of goods and monitor schedule adherence and delivery performance from suppliers.

Aggressively work to achieve the lowest cost (price, quality, service, etc.) of all material for competitive advantage.

Ensure that we met key metrics.

Work with receiving clerk to verify incoming raw materials.

Order raw materials from MRP timely and accurately.

Develop and negotiate contracts with suppliers (price/terms).

Always look for opportunities to improve organizational mentality.

What You’ll Bring:

A minimum of 5 years’ experience with SAP planning/purchasing utilizing MRP tools.

Experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred and required.

BA/BA degree and APICS/CPM certification preferred.

Ability to communicate effectively at all levels.

Ability to develop and analyze forecasts jointly with sales department.

Proficient in Microsoft Office.

Intermediate or higher level of knowledge in Microsoft Excel to create macros and use pivot table & lookup functions.

Cost accounting knowledge.

Proven success in inventory reduction.

Experience in purchasing, KANBAN systems, JIT, POU, MRPII, ABC analysis, consignment.

Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job‑related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
