What This Role Is All About The Sr Compliance Specialist plays an important part in supporting a strong culture of integrity across Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System. This role helps guide the development, monitoring, and ongoing improvement of a comprehensive compliance program that supports safe and ethical operations throughout the organization. This position partners closely with the Director of Corporate Integrity to develop auditing and monitoring activities that reduce risk, detect concerns, and promote responsible conduct. Work includes supporting risk assessments, reviewing policies, analyzing outcomes, and helping lead system wide initiatives that support compliance with state and federal laws. The role involves developing training materials, leading education sessions, and reviewing processes to ensure they meet regulatory expectations. The Sr Compliance Specialist also researches complex issues, supports the resolution of compliance concerns, assists in annual planning activities, and maintains clear documentation that reflects the organization's commitment to accountability. What You Bring on Day One Education Bachelor's degree in healthcare or related field required Experience 3 to 5 years of experience in healthcare compliance or similar work 5 to 7 years of experience in acute care hospital operations, physician office management, business office leadership, or related areas Experience implementing healthcare compliance requirements General knowledge of state and federal agencies General knowledge of healthcare compliance and privacy laws and standards Demonstrated ability to problem solve, prioritize work, and support strategic decision making Strong analytical skills and attention to detail Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook Great to Have Experience Experience in physician compliance, health system compliance, medical office management, or a nursing background Knowledge of EPIC and commonly used healthcare software applications Licenses and Certifications Certified Healthcare Compliance (CHC) Certified Healthcare Privacy Compliance (CHPC) Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) What This Job Looks Like Guide auditing and monitoring activities to detect potential compliance risks Support development and review of compliance tools, assessments, and documentation Review, update, and maintain system wide compliance policies Participate in risk assessment activities and support annual compliance planning Research and resolve compliance issues independently when needed Develop training content and deliver education related to compliance topics Identify opportunities to improve monitoring processes and reporting tools Analyze audit outcomes, summarize results, and communicate findings Maintain detailed documentation of activities to support organizational readiness Collaborate closely with the Corporate Integrity Department on ongoing compliance needs Why You Will Love Working Here Work that strengthens trust and accountability across a respected healthcare system A collaborative team that values transparency, learning, and ethical leadership Opportunities to grow in a dynamic environment with diverse compliance challenges A mission driven organization with more than 100 years of service to its community A chance to influence meaningful improvements that support both patients and caregivers
