
Assistant Director of Career and Life Design

**Job Description:**The Assistant Director of Career and Life Design (CLD) is responsible for designing, delivering, and evaluating programs that strengthen alumni career and life design engagement and support around shared life experiences, interests, and aspirations.Reporting to the Director of Career and Life Design, the Assistant Director plays a central role in advancing Brown’s vision for Career and Life Design, helping alumni engage in a lifelong process of exploration, growth, and contribution. This role focuses on programming that transcends traditional “networking” to foster authentic connection, mutual learning, and community across generations. In collaboration with the Alumni Community & Belonging team and others across the University community, the Assistant Director ensures that CLD initiatives reflect Brown’s diverse and inclusive alumni community and integrate principles of inclusion and belonging. Through career programming, life design initiatives, and mentorship programs, this position enables alumni and students to build lasting relationships that strengthen the Brown community for the long term.****Education and Experience***** Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience* Minimum of 4 years of experience in a related field such as development, career services, program management, alumni engagement, and/or advising.****Job Competencies***** Demonstrated experience and success in strategy development, project coordination, and event planning* Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with finesse in interacting with senior administration and high-profile alumni. A strong relationship builder who is diplomatic and experienced in designing and implementing complex plans.* Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple projects and priorities to meet aggressive timelines and challenging deadlines. Commitment to working in a team environment as well.* Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google suite of tools, experience with web and email technology, experience using databases, and ability to learn new technology quickly.* Ability to present effectively to small and large groups.* Meticulous attention to detail. Strong project management and problem-solving skills.* Must be able and willing to work occasional evenings and weekends.
